Bought one as well. I am just hoping I can get it unlocked from the O2 network and use it on the tesco network(even though tesco is run by O2).
    Thank you for posting.

This unlocker is very good with Huawei's has done many peoples G300 on here. Good service. Does Y300 too.

I ordered one via the upgrade checker last Friday. I didn't see bad gateway but I did have to request a code 4 times (on the same SIM) until I got one that worked.

I am really not surprised. At 59.99 or 69.99 they are extremely well priced.

Thanks, Mike. It's my mum's SIM and she's miles away, so in-store is the best bet! Going to try phoning them tomorrow.

If not, I'll try submitting a code again when I'm at mum's and have the phone with the SIM in it, in my hand.

It is UNLOCKED, as mentioned in the original post :) Confirmed many times on the HUKD thread now.

I'm on GiffGaff and there's GiffGaffers using it (also on the O2 network).

    Hi,

So would an unlocked Carphone Warehouse Y300 PAYG work with an existing pay monthly sim?

    Cheers!

Re the "0.8GB only available for apps" (saw it on a review somewhere too and can't remember where), I assume adding a MicroSD card solves this. I've asked Y300 users on HUKD anyway.

It most certianly wont solve this problem!!!!

It is a standard misconception that the 'internal storage' is the same as the RAM - it is not!!!!

    - RAM is random access memory which runs the apps on the system. Low RAM means sometimes it simply cannot run the apps, or even download them! Extreme cases have reported not being able to even open the internet browser or email app due to 'low memory' warnings on their phone . . . .

    - Internal storage is just that: it is the amount of room you have to store apps, pictures, ect on the phone. An SD card gives you extra storage space. It is not the same as the RAM!

You can upgrade storage space on a phone using an SD card. You can NEVER upgrade the RAM!!!!!!

Rooting the phone and other software fixes are horrible solutions!

Don't skin-flint on this one - if you want a 'smart phone' then get one with 1gb of RAM. Anything less than this is asking for trouble . . . . .

Sorry for the rant in advance!
I was going to put the name of my plumbing business here so you know what I do should I give out any advice plumbing wise - however apparently I cant do that - go figure!!!!!
New signature - I am a Plumber (I am just not allowed to tell you!)

They are talking about the internal storage and not the RAM.

Huawei list the Y300 specs as follows:

    ROM: 4GB
    RAM: 512MB
    Flash User Available: 1GB

Several reviews list the ROM as 2GB with under 1GB usable, so I assume that's where the 'only 0.8GB for apps' comes from. I don't own the phone so can't say for certain what the exact specs are.

I know the difference between the internal storage and RAM :)

Only used the Y300 briefly (boyf is using it and out for the evening) but first impressions are very favourable. He had an S2, before it got stolen, and he's impressed too :)

The y300 is a great little phone for the price
I brought one for a second phone and have my Ovivo Sim in it and works fine

The Ram is no problem at the moment everything i have put on works fine

The only bad bit i have found is trying to take a picture in direct sun
But then again we don't get a lot of that in this country anyway:)
    so not bovered

No good trying to compare the phone to a phone that is £300-500 that's just being silly

Thank LouLou:T i have been watching the post on here and took the plunge and got one On-line from the CPW on upgrade and was imprest by CPW
told me it was out of stock and wouldn't get it to the 8th but got it Wednesday.:money:
