Went through all of the sales patter for the Y300 and was ready to buy when the sales person said the mobile internet was permanently on and could not be switched off. This was a no no for me so aborted the sale, for the same reason as geoff stated, perhaps when we get a new Ovivo SIM card that would change.
However when I got home I downloaded the manual and thought it stated that in fact the mobile internet could be disabled and Geoff above has confirmed that, correct?
Also the SA said she thought Huawei did not come unlocked and would be locked to the first SIM card inserted, please someone tell me that is not correct.
I would love one of these phones.
They come unlocked and obviously you can enable/disable data!
Why listen to an idiot sales assistant?
Read the manual for yourself here:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Well I would say as you top up very minimal 3's new rates may be the one for you then

If it was £10 a month OR and you want a a good whack of data Orange Dolphin payg with 1GB free data and 400 texts per £10 top up and use the £10 credit to buy Orange Extras and of course 35p Orange Wednesdays
http://www1.orange.co.uk/service_plans/payasyougo/extra_overview.html
Do Orange know about the new price plan you've just made up?
Unless there has been a change, 100MB does not equal 1GB, most people say its only 1/10 of a GB.
According to OrangeWith Dolphin the more you top up, the more we'll reward you with free internet and texts. So you can stay social on the go, at no extra cost.
total top ups a month £10
you get the £10 credit you've paid for plus these great monthly rewards and benefits 400 free texts plus 100MB free Internet.
Have a read for yourself at http://studio.orange.co.uk/service_plans/payasyougo/payg_dolphin_costs.html
In fact, Dolphin is pretty useless, 100MB data, and calls at 30p per minute, texts at 12p each and additional data at 65p per MB.
It's extortionate to pay that, and a stupid plan to recommend on a money saving website.
Three kill it on every level, 150MB free data with every top up, 3p calls, 2p text and 1p per additional MB.
Only a fool would choose Orange PAYG.
£10 on Dolphin would buy 33 minutes of calls, 33 minutes on Three is 99p :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.====0 -
I'm quite staggered at the hopelessness of that salesperson, though every company has a few. Even more disappointing that it was a woman.notbritishgas wrote: »I have just returned from my local Carphone warehouse with my £60 still burning a hole in my pocket:(

Depending on your annoyance/time/energy put in to get to that store, I would complain about her: NO smartphone locks you into 24/7 mobile data, and that should be basic knowledge for anyone on the sales floor.
As for the SIM being "locked to the phone it's inserted to", that's just nonsense. You'll be able to use any SIM you wish in the Y300, and use the SIM in another phone, if you want to.
I have spoken to CPW/Phones4U salespeople off the cuff, and many WILL admit their phones are unlocked if pressed, just depends who you talk to.0 -

So lets recap - £10 on Dolphin gives 1GB 400 texts and £10 credit, £7.50 buys 100 mins for 30 days bundle with £2.50 left of credit.
On 3 thats £10 for 1000MB, £8.00 for 400 texts and £3.00 for 100 mins = £21
OR
£10 on the Diamonds PAYG make-belief-plan, marketed externally by Orange as the Dolphin payg plan.
You really should learnt to read rather than attacking me on numerous threads darling, you are just proving to other respectful MSE users like myself your own mentality! I mean I did put all the links in the post you are responding too

Yes, this is nonsense for this phone, but exactly what happens to an iPhone (locking to the network, not the sim though).0 -

Diamond crawls out the pub at kicking out time and bangs his keyboard some more.
Either your link is a promotion of some sort or Orange is in such a mess of contradictions it would still be stupid to recommend them as your page link on their site is contradicted on multiple pages elsewhere on their website..
I read quite well, from the terms and conditions for PAYG Dolphin.
http://studio.orange.co.uk/mobileterms/pdfs/PAYG-Animal-Packages-20130314.pdfShort terms
Dolphin: Reward subject to minimum top-up of £10 a month. UK only. Reward starts from 400 person to person texts to UK networks. Unlimited texts subject to £30 monthly top-up. 100MB free internet.
And another24. Free internet (mobile internet browsing) – usage is subject to a 100MB cap – any usage over this will be charged
at your Animal plan rate. Orange considers 100MB sufficient for typical mobile internet browsing usage. It is insufficient for streaming of audio/video content, peer to peer file sharing or Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) calls and internet tethering. If customers do any of the above they should expect to exceed the 100MB cap and will be charged at standard data rates.
How about the direct link to what it costs? With Dolphin the more you top up, the more we'll reward you with free internet and texts. So you can stay social on the go, at no extra cost.
The £10 credit you've paid for & 400 free texts plus 100MB free internet
http://studio.orange.co.uk/service_plans/payasyougo/payg_dolphin_costs.html
And you still haven't explained why you recommended a network that charges 30p per minute, 12p per text and 65p per MB.
I suppose we have to wait until after closing time tonight for that?====0 -

As Grumbler^ only a iplod mobile locks to first sims network.
CPW staff are hopeless with inaccurate infos and why I ended up emailing the Chief Executive & why we got payg upgrades revamped, online telesales and stores were all inconsistent with each other on payg upgrades.
The Chief Exec Rodge is happy to be emailed incidents of such inaccurate informatation staff provide customers as this is directly fed down from the top and improves CPW training and thus communication to its customers, and thus CPW image.

Again more rude attitude.
I DONT DRINK. Maybe you should give up...
They links above and in your previous post are your links NOT the links I provided.
And thus people can see what's wrong with Orange, d123 being a (ex?) staff trainer in the call centres!
The website IS as inconsistent as are you d123 with your links to OLD information I DID NOT POST, YOU DID.
