Stand alone broadband, which you can't generally get, is £15. With tv , it is £12.50 and with phone and tv £7.50. They are offering you broadband at full package rate without having to take that package.
  • Sky are doing free bband for existing tv customers for 12 mths,£15.40 line rental payable

In earlier posts, you say that Sky offered you standalone bb for £7.50.

    No I didn't.

  • Hi, leaving things until the last minute as usual but....

I am a BE Broadband customer for broadband @ £17.99pm

I am a BT customer for landline and voice calls @ £24.50 pm (direct debit amount anyway).

Like a previous poster, BT sent me a letter (which I only just opened too late last night) saying they are now charging me £3.50pm from 1st November for evening and weekend calls - which were previously free. Their line rental is also going up to £15.99pm from January, what a rip off :(

I despise BT and hate paying so much for line rental when I hardly make any calls. In fact they have suspended this months and next months payments of £24.50 as I am paying too much and am in too much credit with them!

Now, I have a letter from SKY offering me Unlimited Broadband at £15pm, with NO LINE RENTAL, but that includes a charge of £5 for not having SKY TALK and also a charge of £5 for not having SKY TV.

I think they have already set the wheels in motion as the letter says they (SKY) will be taking the £15pm from 1st December instead of it going to BE Broadband, but I haven't signed anything :(

I don't know what to do, and who to go with. I don't want SKY TV as I just can't afford it. I don't want any TV package from BT either.

Do I sell my soul to the Devil and phone up SKY and ask for a deal on unlimited broadband *AND* line rental, or stay with the devil I know (BT) and see what they offer me please?

Will BE (aka O2>SKY) charge me if I leave them to take broadband with BT? Will BE want their modem back?

Sorry for sounding so clueless and being in a panic - I *AM*

    Please advice/help me :(

    Thank you.

Well, BE Broadband took my usual direct debit of £17.99 yesterday, thought SKY were meant to take it as of 1st December? :(

Have been changed from O2 to Sky and they are charging me a penalty for not having Sky TV and Sly Talk £7.50 in total
Are they allowed to do this?
I intend to change after new year
Were O2 allowed to charge you £5 extra/less if you didn't/did have O2 mobile? Did you complain on the forum about that?

You don't need to sign anything. The letter says to contact them if you don't want to go ahead. Presumably you didn't do that?

Sounds like you haven't moved over yet then.

No charge, but a return to donor requires a 12m line rental contract.
A switch to another LLU provider is not usually possible.

    My experience
    - Moved LL back to BT, payed 12 months in advance (line saver).
    - Moved internet to AAISP which was a LLU transfer. AAISP use CPW Wholesale and BT WBC, the migration cost was £1 to TT or £50 to BT WBC.

So yes a 12m line contract and a successful LLU transfer providing the ISP uses other LLU operators.
    Just broke, even.

    That depends.

If BB and Line rental then yes. If BB alone not necessarily.

    Yes .

Well since I'm getting conflicting answers, since I will be away for the next few days , I'll leave the router on anyway.
  • I did receive a Sky letter back in Sept/Oct time, didnt really pay to much attention to it to be honest.

I received an email and text message today saying they'll be taking money to include nov/dec (£11.85 in all) on 6th Jan.

Im guessing its too late to say I should be free on O2 deal till April?

I was just hoping to delay the £7.50 payments till then
