Just taken a 7.50 a month broadband only from sky offer. Had a welcome to sky email and it mentions that they need a MAC in it.

Is this the case because im migrating for o2 or do they handle all of this?

Sky informed me today that since they didn't get the MAC within 12 hours of signing up for Fibre broadband and line rental that they had to cancel the order and put it through again. I wasn't made aware of this when signing up.

The person I was signing up to Sky already had O2 broadband.

HTH!

I thought you only needed a MAC when transferring broadband without switching line rental.

The person I was changing phone line rental and broadband for was switching both services to Sky. Today a Sky customer advisor stated that the order for the telephone line would have to be cancelled because the MAC was not given to them within 12 hours. Then the order for both will have to be placed again apparently. It doesn't make sense to me either as you only need a MAC for broadband.

Has anybody had confirmation of their request to not migrate to Sky?

When I phoned up (end Sept) I was told I would receive a confirmation email but haven't.
Therefore I have no proof that I am staying put with o2!

im on legacy with a my 12 months free retention still active
had the 7.50 rolling monthly letter offer in too with date due January for migration.
just checked and my 12 months " Date contract ends 01 March 2014"
so may give them a call and see if I can get a push back
wasnt too fussed as bt were due to upgrade the exchange to fibre end of dec/january so was going see options when that had rolled out. annoyingly the open reach has changed the details to now showing "future exchange" and a rollout date of end of 2014.... so stuck with slow 2mb for some time to come...

Where can you find out what actual speeds are available in your local area?

I'm in same situation.
No confirmation, despite asking for it and being assured I would 'probably' receive a letter.

I have had my usual O2 email for October, partial quote below,
You can see your latest bill online now. As your account is in credit by £-xx there'll be no charges this month and the credit will be carried through to your bill next month.

Please check your bill summary and Direct Debit carefully.

Total bill: £-xx (your account is currently in credit).
Direct Debit due date: there are no charges payable this month.

I've not actually checked my DD account.

nb: in credit because I blagged the free 12mths and they credited me because they'd already taken that months payment.
Move along, nothing to see.

If you want this in writing then write to them about the conversation, confirming date, time, Sky rep etc, and what was agreed about the migration and ask them to confirm this back to you.

I got my letter saying that I will be transferred Dec/Jan.

Nooo thank you... PlusNet here i come... Fingers crossed that Fibre will be installed next week.

My MAC code was supposed to be emailed to me. Turns out they sent it to the O2 phone that i used to get the discount. Gave that to the FIL in case he needs to contact us in an emergency.

£14 a month saving us money it said. errr £9.50 before and £14 after = saving?
