If you have the "free" year bribe to stay, that is dependent on keeping the o2 mobile going too.

Anyone left O2 mobile while still on the free 12 month Broadband deal? I just wondered how the £5 discount was treated?
I was told that I didn't need to top up at all, but I didn't ask whether I still needed to have an O2 SIM in operation. There's no £5 discount with the 12 months free, it's just free.

They didn't actually mention that to me at the time, I did have 8 months of my mobile contract to run though. They did ( in an irritated fashion) mention it to my sister at the time when they tried to fob her off with an inferior deal (she was SIM only and out of contract at the time). I was never quite sure what the criteria was for getting the 12 month free deal.

  • Used to be able to change DNS server setting on the O2 router. Having just agreed to a 12 month contract with Sky (upfront line rental and free broadband for 12 months) I now find that Sky routers are locked down and do not allow the DNS server setting to be changed, which means that I can no longer have the protection (agree it's not 100%) of using OpenDNS servers.

This is an important factor for me, so am thinking of cancelling with Sky (stil in 7 day cooling off period), and going elsewhere - maybe even staying with O2 for the time being...

Does anybody know if Plusnet allow changing DNS server settings on their router?
  • I'm on the £0 per month deal from o2 until May 2014. So was surprised when I got the letter from Sky telling me they were going to charge me £5 if I did nothing.

Called them, and they are not migrating me now. Staying on the same deal at same price. (as opposed to the same deal, but £5 per month which is what they were offering)

Well worth making that call if you are on a £0 per month contract.

They are readily agreeing to put us to the back of the queue till o2 closes (they say that will be June/July), but don't say what will happen to the monthly charge once the current o2 contract ends before then!!

Are you saying that you have got rid rid of/didn't have a O2 mobile phone?

Finally bit the bullet and moved my BB over to Sky. Monthly line rental and unlimited broadband for £7.50 per month.

Thats the best bet, especially as you cannot use third party modem/routers with Sky, and the SR101 is very good.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Can someone who has confirmed receipt of their promised account credit from Sky please tell me where the credit shows?

I have tried MySky - Bills, but it says: You currently have no bills to view.

    Thanks.
