Its a 12 month BB contract, steve.
  • Many thanks VisionMan. Here's an advanced query for you then! Do I need to be a Sky subscriber to get BT Sports over satellite?

As many channels are available free on satellite with...umm, some kind of special free-to-air-viewing-card I've forgotten about, can I simply just let BT know the details of my Sky+ box / viewing card as the Guardian article states, once I've signed up for BT broadband and hey-presto it'll work?

    Cheers,

    Steve

  • On the 16th of May I changed some of my Sky TV packages as of cost and asked the agent about fibre optic broadband which he offered by 12 months free :j.My router was to be delivered within a week so contacted Sky yesterday 28th May and they had no order or details of it at all  Copy from sky’s email received today 'I believe you have discussed this with a member of our fibre team already and there has been a request sent to this agents manager to listen to this discussion and if this incorrect information has been given it will certainly be dealt with as a training issue.

In relation to the conversation you had with this agent , the offer discussed does not exist and we do not offer fibre as a free product. I do apologise for any miscommunication if this information was provided as incorrect.' Any comments, should I take this further with them or ofcom?

You don't need to be an active Sky subscriber to get the free sports channels. You only need an active 'free to view' card.

    Result. :)
  • Wonderful, thanks again!

    Neither.
What action do you imagine making? Do you think they'll give you free fibre optic broadband for a year if you complain?
No contract was ever drawn up.
  • Aha! Here you go then VisionMan - a REAL challenge for you! :-)

My in-laws have Sky Multi-Room (separate Sky+ HD boxes in two bedrooms). If they signed up for BT Broadband / Line rental to get the BT Sports via satellite, can they get it on all their Sky+ (MultiRoom) boxes?

    Over to you, sir!

Unfortunately not. But all the on-line/internet apps will work (laptop/PC/iPad etc). For up to two concurrent devices.

I have ESPN HD on a Sky Multi Room package, 2 x Sky+ HD boxes, for which I have been paying £10 per month and can view ESPN on both boxes. I don't take my broadband through either BT or Sky.

BT Sport tell me today that to continue that service I will have to pay 2 x £15 activation fees and £15 per month for each box.

A total rip-off. They wont be getting my money.

If you are in a Market 1 exchange this offer is pretty much a no brainier if you want some more sport. The value of BT Sport means that effectively you are paying around 15 quid for your broadband/landline instead of around 25 quid.
