Nor does it specifically exclude them, either.

And the complaint you have submitted has already been submitted to the ASA, and dealt with by them too. The outcome of which was that BT had to mention that line rental charges were applicable. Which they now do.

    Sorry about that.

    The vagueness is the problem.

If the website had specifically rejected my attempts in the first place to register because I didn't have line rental then I wouldn't have wasted six days. Then I was told it was activated. Then I was passed off to tech support as the next person couldn't work out why I was unable to activate.
Then it took the final lady 45 minutes of calls to various departments to get an answer. She didn't know of the rule that line rental had to be taken.

BT have not covered themselves in glory in their handling of the matter.

And I remain of the opinion that the adverts are misleading. But, I will await the ASA on that.
  • Yes, it's free.

How do I do this....can you assist

    Thanks

I've got the three HD channels via my Sky Box. I've also downloaded the BT Sport App onto my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 from the Google Store for free, and it works well. I can also get BT Sport on my laptop.

I just use my normal BT login to access the channels.

Could be the netbook. I'll try the desktop tomorrow.

Works fine on the desktop so it's my netbook that is the problem.

Currently on hold to BT as have not received new sky viewing card 2 weeks after ordering :(

Thanks for that. I had always wondered.

In regard to your complaint, I'm sorry to tell you that BT are correct. And all their adverts state line rental at £15.45 is required too.

After a further complaint, where I pointed out a specific piece of the BT Sport website, BT have now activated BT Sport on my account without further charge.

They've also changed that specific piece of the website. Which suggests it was not as clear as it should be.

Nice one! And they've changed the wording too, eh? An even better result for you.

I'm not sure it's an even better result at the moment.

BT have made mistakes over the past few weeks. It'll be a better result, all round, if they learn from them.

For reference, I've received a reply from the ASA. They have been assured by BT that changes will be made to the way BT Sport is advertised.

This is a quote from the ASA:
Some complainants objected to the use of the claim “free with BT Broadband” when they considered BT Line Rental was also required. BT have confirmed that they do sell BT broadband as a single product. Therefore, you should be entitled to receive BT Sport for free without having BT Line Rental. However, if consumers purchase the BT broadband package of £10 a month it is compulsory for consumers to take BT Line Rental in order to receive BT Sport.
