Now that BT sports has gone live it would appear that there are even more catches. I am already a BT customer with BT infinity so I thought BT sports would be free for me, well no additional cost anyway. However there is still a catch, as a sky customer I registered for BT sports back in June - supposedly free, and well it is unless you have a multiroom system from sky.

BT have informed me that you can only view BT sports on one tv free, so if you have multiroom you will not be able to view on that tv unless you subscribe to them for the channel. As a sky customer I feel aggrieved and misled by BT as if I purchased an additional channel through Sky it would be available on ALL devices not only one, I wouldn't have to pay per TV which is apparently how it works with BT.

No where that I can see does BT advertise that you will only get one FREE tv account and as they advertise that BT Sport is also available on phones, tablets etc through their app I think it is very misleading. I agreed to a further 12 month contract with BT for my broad band based on the fact the BT sports would be free, now I can only watch it on one TV , thoughts.....

Why do you feel aggrieved and misled? Did BT ever advertise free multiroom? No, they didn't. You just assumed they would. Anyway, BT would need Sky's co-operation to offer multiroom. And that was never going to happen.
  • We are getting Sky fitted on Saturday 10th, currently have BT Sport on Vision+ box (our broadband is BT), anyone know if it is possible to change the free entitlement from the BT box to the Sky box?

    Similar experience to WestonDave.
I am already a subscriber to BT vision and Infinity broadband. I activated my card on saturday, hoping to see the Steven Gerrard testimonial, only to still be waiting some hours later for the service to activate. Anyway called the help line who called back one hour later.
I was told my BT box was an "old" box not suitable for the technology now, but I could have a new one for free, with an activation charge of £49, not my definition of free. I would also have to commit to a further 12 months of Infinity BB.
Now I have been a BT subscriber for some years and find this attitude appalling, not to mention valuable hours wasted on a saturday. it is obvious that this appears to be soley about new market share and hang any sense of loyalty to exisitng customers.
I would have been likely to remain with BT had this been an easier option. their whole attitude in this episode has now caused me to rethink my options as loyalty cuts both ways.

    Help please!

I registered my interest in BT sport a few weeks ago as recommended by Vision man and was advised that I would be contacted by them & invited to purchase a £10 viewing card "nearer the time". I haven't heard from them - should I have been contacted by now?

    TIA

Just had a torrid time trying to register for BT Sport. They're refusing to give me access to the online app despite being a BT Infinity customer.

    August 1st:
Website accepted my BT account, but refused to accept a BT Sport request on the account.
Phoned up, waited half an hour, and was told it was accepted and would be activated 'within a few minutes'
Phoned up again, six hours later, to be told there was no record of the order and I would be passed through to tech support. Line went dead after 45 mins of waiting.
Tried their online Live Chat, which told me to ring up.
Filled out an online query form that would be answered in 48 hours.

    August 2nd:
Got in contact with @btcare on Twitter who got me to fill another web form in, to be contacted back within 36 hours.

    August 5th:
No response to either form, so I try to ring again. 45minutes or so and cut off again.
Ask @btcare if they've got any further. No response.

    August 6th:
Ask @btcare if they've got any further. No response.

    August 7th:
@btcare respond to say they're looking into it.
I get a phone call checking my situation. Lady has to check something and rings back, twice.

Eventually, after several checks with various departments, she tells me that as I'm only a BT Infinity customer - and not a landline customer - I can't have it. If I want it, I have to move my landline.

    ---

I've seen nothing that says I have to be a landline customer. Adverts clearly show it's available - free - to BT Internet and Infinity customers.

I've put a complaint in with the ASA over false advertising.

    Anyone else had similar problems?

Thanks for that. I had always wondered.

In regard to your complaint, I'm sorry to tell you that BT are correct. And all their adverts state line rental at £15.45 is required too.

Their ads don't read like that. Their signup page on btsport.com states, in the hidden "legal stuff" section:
BT Sport is free for new and existing customers. BT Broadband for new customers from £10 a month (plus line rental £15.45 a month).

Which reads as rental for new customers. It makes no specific demand for existing customers.

I've submitted the complaint. I'll leave it to the ASA to decide. I'm sure I'm in the minority of customers that doesn't have both with one supplier - especially as it took BT several points of contact to tell me such - and the person I spoke to last seemed surprised at the situation.

Nor does it specifically exclude them, either.

And the complaint you have submitted has already been submitted to the ASA, and dealt with by them too. The outcome of which was that BT had to mention that line rental charges were applicable. Which they now do.

    Sorry about that.
