Oooh I wish it was! No I have one more MASSIVE one to go... the LAND .. this currently sits at £7345. I am aiming to get rid of this in 8 paydays. This means.. £918 a month.... I will add calculations soon as this is going to be tough...:rotfl:

Sorry, what do you mean LAND? Do you own a piece of paradise somewhere?

Well, me and him had a little 'chat' a few weeks ago about his overspending (unbelievably he was always the sensible one with money out of the two of us), but since he was ill he seems to have really gone overboard with spending. He asked me if he could reduce his contribution to the household account once our son starts school and we're not paying nursery any more. When I said no he was really put out, until we sat down and I worked out with him how much he spends on Sky TV (football), football tickets, lunches at work and alcohol.
Since then he's taken packed lunch to work every day (saving about £25 a week), and dropped his alcohol spends from about £25 a week to about £10 a week. It's all progress, and I've been trying to get him to drink less for years. Now I know that £ is the way to get to him rather than his health.
So he seems to have realised that his contribution to the household account is not what is skinting him, but his frivolous attitude to cash when he's earning almost minimum wage.

I dont come on for 2 days and people have been updating left, right and centre!

Kat - Well done on getting rid of the bike loan. Although you have the biggie left, things always seem simpler and clearer the less creditors you have.

HM - i bet opening that CC statement was nice!

LAGL - i'm so happy for you on your ppi cheque :)

Well Thurs was a SFD but Friday wasnt. I had a trip to Brum with friends followed by a night out. It was all planned and fairly MSE (eg we got a coach rather than train). Hopes of a SFD today vanished due to needing a fizzy drink to recover from the night out :rotfl:

PS Keep the recipes coming! i love reading/seeing what people cook!

Hmm, I think MSEing is taking over my life. I dreamed last night that I got a letter from my bank offering £1800 as a good will gesture for all the bank charges I've had :rotfl: Funnily enough, there was no such letter when I woke up!!

I tried to reduce my Santander overdraft from £1000 to £50 as it's fully paid off :T I wanted to keep a small £50 buffer just in case there are any annual recurring payments that I've forgotten about (doubt it, but just in case). Anyway, I failed the credit check for a £50 overdraft so they have to leave it at £1000 :rotfl:

Another SFD for me, although I'm off out to buy ice cream and get paid for it :D Then I'm meeting a friend.

    Enjoy your Saturday evening everyone!

Ha! Love irony!!! It's like me, wouldn't get my mortgage now as part time and single but I pay it all myself on time every time and have done for 7 months! Oh well, wouldn't really want to be in their heads would you?!

Getting a bit excited/edgy as my eBay items come into the last 24 hours, no takers yet and could do with the cash - but I always bid in last minute as don't want my competitive spirit to come into bidding war so maybe...

    Hi all

Well my friend came around with the £50 this afternoon. She has been into work this morning and managed to get her wages paid early. Phew, I just hate to think what would have happened to our friendship if she wasnt able to pay me back.

Siouxsie that recipe sounds nice. I got some YS turkey thighs so have cooked them to make a pie for tomorrow.

Tired now, late night last night and two fairly long dog walks today.

DS asked me if I could get a pizza on my way home for tea. He says "And no I dont mean a takeaway Mum, I am not stupid enough to ask for a takeaway because I know we dont have any money. Just maybe a Pepperoni pizza from Asda?" Not quite sure if thats good or bad!

Anyway I gave in and got him the pizza - but managed to only buy one big family pizza and nothing else which was a result!

Off to put PJs on and watch some telly now.

    Hi everyone.

Sorry I haven't checked in for a couple of days, I've been very busy so when I have chance to find the sofa/laptop I fall asleep.

I've had another SFD today so I think we will beat last months total. We actually made money today as we took the last of DS's baby clothes & some of our clothes to the local cash for clothes. That's £15 in the jar for savings along with £25 from the car boot last week. Will keep it in the jar until payday as its gonna be very tight this month.

NSK & LAGL, congratulations to both of you. DH got nearly £4k in January & even though we used it to buy DH is motorbike & not towards debt, it made our life more comfortable & enjoyable.

It won't be a SFD tomorrow as I'm going to the Trafford Centre with my brother & sister for their birthday. Cards have already been bought, sister has just asked I join them at Yo Sushi as she knows we are strapped. My brother will have to wait until I can get to a big Tesco & exchange my vouchers for some camping equipment for him as he likes festivals.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend. Off to bed xx

Sorry, what do you mean LAND? Do you own a piece of paradise somewhere?

Well now I must apologise I was under the impression that one and all knew where my debts lay!

A few years ago a piece of land beside my parents went up for sale. The owner wanted rid as he was leaving the country and was selling it for WAY below it's original worth as planning permission was delayed at that point. Should anyone have bought it and built on it they would be right under my parents nose and our home (which is in Northern Ireland) will never be classed as 'private' and they would have direct view into our property.

Now you may say 'well that's what everyone has to put up with'..I'd say no they don't.. where we are is rural albeit only 15 minutes from town. We have neighbours but a new house would have been incredibly intrusive for my parents who have been there for 30 years ..

However, the real reason to buy this piece of land ( a half acre ) was to create a small-holding. My Dad is in his sixties and could not get a loan for it especially as he is self employed so I took the loan in my name and he pays me half - we half own it each - the way I wanted it.

Now this loan is bearable. I don't HAVE to pay it back by the end of the year but if I want a mortgage (with the same bank possibly) this loan in my name will count against me. So I took the stand to get rid of ALL of it thus saving my father who is pressing on in years the issue of paying for something that I can get rid off easier. I earn more money than him but they will continue contributing to it after I pay it off it just alleviates stress and the worry that if one month they cannot afford to pay me they technically don't need to as the loan is effectively gone.

My Mum hates that I am pushing myself to pay this off. They want me to slow down as there is no pressure from the bank but that's not why I am doing it entirely. I just don't want to owe anyone any money!!! I want the £430 a month that I was paying out to go towards saving for a house so I no longer have to rent - I have moved 9 times in 13 years in London. I have never had somewhere to call home as the fear of having to move for whatever reason is always looming.

The land will eventually be my inheritance. It has doubled the plot we are on back home - it's my haven, it will feed my parents and my Dad loves working on "the field" as it is known. It is not bad debt so to speak but I still owe another entity another £7345 not including interest!!!

So I am desperate to get rid of it! To plan for my own personal future but care for my parents as best I can. I want them, the people who brought me up to be careful, to have an easy retirement, with something to play with, eat from and relax in ( my dad has planted 24 fruit trees, is currently digging a fresh water pond, has plans for a 30ft greenhouse and a lot of vegetables and perhaps a goat or chickens).

Angelpye I hope this answers your question ..if you want to know any more please ask.. but am so sorry this was a long old post...:rotfl:
