Such positive posts, it means a lot to me to know that others are in the same boat (hopefully with a couple of paddles between us).

Enjoy your night out Thrifty. I may go and meet some friends for a couple of drinks tonight but I will act as taxi driver so everyone buys me my drinks and I will spend virtually nothing. Its a win win situation because I make sure everyone gets home safely so the girls are very appreciative of that.

And yeah LAGL there is something about the middle of the month that is tough. Feels like a long slog to the next pay day!

Right, work this morning. Have let DS2 stay home because he is full of cold and has been awake half the night. Cant see him learning anything today anyway, in fact I think he is asleep again already.

    Keep it going everyone!

I stocked up on dog food which is cheaper to buy in bulk and had to buy more of the dogs antihistamines.

Do you get them from the vet? The anti histamine, not the food LOL

    Morning All,

Payday for me and as my tax code has changed, I'm actually taking home £13 less a month despite a £600 a year pay increase :( Wasn't noticeable last month as we had that bonus.

Treating myself to a new vac today. Mine smells of cat pee when I use it and my bessie says this is a sign the motor is on its way out so I'm going for a new one (and finally I can afford to just like that :) ) Also need to pick up some picnicky foods for going away tomorrow.

Looking at the finances, I can afford to save £300 this month. Hubby sems to have benefitted from a change of tax code so the deposit fund should look quite healthy by tomorrow :)

  • Afternoon all - well it may be wet and grey outside but I am BOUNCING!!! Got back from DS swimming to find my post..... HSBC I take it all back..... Can you guess what was in the post? I fear for our postmans welfare next week :rotfl:

So Mr Hong Kong has refunded a stonking £3030.37 :eek:- you may have heard me scream when I read it - never imagined it would be over £3k!!

So dfd no longer in jeopardy - planning to stick to budgets and hopefully save most of this towards DH new car. Will pay off the rest of the credit cards as soon as the cash lands and stick the rest in savings. That day will be my official DFD.

Sticking to food budget and resisting takeaway to celebrate - this is just the next step of our journey.

    Mannnnn what a day!!

    Love to all, LAGL xx

Oh LAGL that's great news, so pleased for you!

I may have done something really stupid. I have lent a friend £50 this afternoon. We have been friends for years and I am sure she will pay me back but I felt really pressured to give her it when she came around all upset because she had a bill to pay and no money. She says she can give me the cash on Monday. Felt better when hubby came in and said he would have done the same. Just cant afford to loose that money at the moment :(
  • LAGL and NSK, what absolutely fabulous news for both of you! Makes me more determined to survive to the end of the month without panicking (and things are getting really tight now).
Sorry I've not checked in all week - work has been hell as usual.
Off to update my siggy, then I'll be back :)

Congratulations LAGL - that must be an amazing feeling!! Hope it clears soon!!

NSK well done to you too, hard work pays off! Is that the last debt?

I have been waiting for my answer to my PPI claim but know deep down it will be a big no but want to see in writing. Also stalking postman for my tax credits award which always makes me nervous - I just want to know what my income will be so I can plan! Wish I wasn't reliant on things I can't control!

    Have a nice Friday!!
