This is so cool. I am totally impressed both at your attitude to breaking things down for him and his clear acceptance of where money is going and his desire to change it and so soon as well is impressive. Tell him NSK thinks he is clearly a very cool MSE dude in the making..:rotfl:“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Well my friend came around with the £50 this afternoon. She has been into work this morning and managed to get her wages paid early. Phew, I just hate to think what would have happened to our friendship if she wasnt able to pay me back.
DS asked me if I could get a pizza on my way home for tea. He says "And no I dont mean a takeaway Mum, I am not stupid enough to ask for a takeaway because I know we dont have any money. Just maybe a Pepperoni pizza from Asda?" Not quite sure if thats good or bad!
Two big :T:T:T:T for this post! I am so glad your friend gave you the money back. Just shows she was a true friend and clearly didn't want to leave you hanging.
And the little one clearly knows what is going on - he knows that Asda is cheaper, he knows that there is an alternative to take-aways, he knows it's silly to ask for a take away as Mummy is skint and he is covering his own butt by making sure you know this - smart kid if you ask me...:rotfl:..“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Well chickadees... I have been at a friends house all day. I brought food for us three ( forgot a bean burger for baby and felt SO guilty - he likes trying new things )... I think the meal came to around £3 for three of us. Yellow sticker bap's with home-made bean burgers, bulgar wheat and roasted butternut squash tabbouleh...anyway you get the drift...
SFD for me..Am losing track and not sure I have calculated them properly. I have only spent on three days I think... hmmm I am not sure but will leave it where it where it is for now..
I am still at my friends house and chilling - tomorrow will be so chilled as well.. cinema, gym and sauna...yeah!!!

Hi everyone...
Really sorry for not posting in a long time but I have been ill and my nan has just been diagnosed with cancer so I've had quite a lot on my mind and haven't been on here for a while...
I'll start posting again on a daily basis. I just thought I'd better check in to let Kat know I hadn't forgotten the thread and I'll contribute a lot more to June's thread.
ThanksSave £12K in 2013 £4000/90000 -
Hugs matt!!
NSK, wow! Wasn't expecting such a detailed response but glad to know...touched me that you were able to do such a thing for your parents! How proud they must be to have raised such a giving child - not sure madam two yogurts would do the same!
Is that the only one left? Wow! Again:)
Trying to keep spends low whilst being realistic about need...quite a balancing act! Onwards...Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
NSK - I think that what you've done for your folks is admirable. Shows what a fantastic job that they've done raising you that you really want to give back.Ninja Saving Turtle0

Morning everybody, been absent for a while but I have been fairly good and managed quite a few sfd's. Had a spend day Friday, dog food was on cheap offer so bought a few bags which should last a couple of months and then did small top up shop at aldi. Over my budget for the month but haven't had to us credit card or overdraft.
Also cancelled my tv licence and fingers crossed will get a refund, have found that we don't miss it at all.
Had a result with Mr t's clubcard exchange dd needed a new bike but didn't really have any spare cash but managed to get one using my vouchers so didn't pay a penny
Have a good day everybody0 -
Wow Kat thats some story. I dont know how old you are but I get the impression you are somewhere in your 20s or early 30s (please dont be insulted if I have got that massively wrong!). But to have the common sense to see that land as an investment and to care enough about your parents to help them out in that way - you must be a really special person.
And thanks for the comment about my son. Its a fine balance between making them understand that we dont have much money and getting them to realise that we can still have a nice life and a little treat sometimes.
Got to move myself now - sitting here in my pjs and I have loads to do!
Matt, sorry to hear about your Nan. Dealing with money stuff is even harder when other things arent going well.0 -
Good [STRIKE]Morning[/STRIKE]Afternoon All!
Matt I get the feeling that when a person doesn't post it's usually due to something awful having happened. I am so sorry about your Gran - what a horrible things for a woman to be hit with at her age or at any age really. Must be awful to see her going through! I really hope you are okay and don't worry about the challenge - but check in now and then and let us know how you are. We are a caring bunch and will worry!
Angelpye when I was the age of Madam Two Yoghurt's it didn't dawn on me what my mother was doing for us. As far as I was concerned we just couldn't have what we wanted - there was no alternative to waiting and saving. My Mother's three famous line.... How Much is it? Do you really need it? Then no you can't have it! :rotfl:
When MTY has her own job and realise's what Mummy did for her regarding good healthy foods and how expensive it was she will understand, it will click for her and she will appreciate it for sure...
Same goes for you YorkShireLass your little one will look around him when he is older and KNOW there is alternative to expensive things because Mummy was savvy enough to teach him instead of giving him everything "because she'd feel awful otherwise"... Being frugal now is imperative for kiddies. You are both doing great in that respect... I am 30 by the way...**groan**...:rotfl:
Kaze - WOW! How many points did you have? That is an immense saving. I think I need to write it into the next challenge that using points anywhere possible is an automatic SFD.. I am waiting for an exchange thingy as I have £9.50 to spend and want £19 so I can stock up on soap and shampoo etc.. Gotta keep eyes peeled!
SO LLL is away until Tuesday, I managed to get a recipe book and instructions (for the FREE breadmaker I got off Freecycle) online from a lovely man who sent them to me yesterday so I shall be putting on some bread and hoping I can decipher the "slighty not working LCD screen" and guess my way to yummy bread....a stint at the gym, a swim and steam and possibly the cinema will see my day through until later...
Oh it's an easy life... (monthly payments for gym and cinema so SFD in the bag)..
