Afternoon lovely peeps :) How are you all today? I've just had a lazy morning in bed and I've only just had breakfast...that should mean I don't need lunch :money: I plan another load of cooking (soup mostly...a pot of split pea and a pot of sweet potato and coconut. That should fill my freezer nicely!). I have a friend coming round for dinner and I'm going to try out Jack's carrot, cumin and kidney bean burgers with rice and broccoli - mmmm!!

Had a fab night out last night and, in anticipation of my lazy morning, I stopped in at the 24hr supermarket to stock up on fruit and veg for the next few days. So yesterday turned out to be a spendy one after all. However, I got lucky in other ways. I found a valid Pay and Display ticket on the ground in the car park :D Then, as is usual practice for me, I scoured the floor and found a fiver :j Almost a spend neutral day!

So, counting today as a SFD, my figures look like this...
    SFD: I've lost count, but I think it's 13?
    Food: £52.25/£80
    Petrol: £50/£50
    Misc: £44.57/£85

My spending is not going well :( I thought I wouldn't do a tight budget as little needed and have spent more than usual - my balance tells me this as I haven't kept my spending diary up :( naughty step occupied for the rest of the month!!

So damage limitation needed. I had a funeral and overtime so putting it down to head being too full so stuck it firmly in the sand that has an angelpye sized hole already from all my debt building.

Will sit and work out what's left rather than what's gone and revamp budgets accordingly - or rather set them in stone as I should have on the 1st.

Also looks like madam two yogurts has broken my tablet!! The middle third is not touch responsive and it's only 2 months old so will have to call them Monday to see if warranty covers it.

Funeral, overtime, tablet - that should be my three! Onwards...

Kat, the Mr t double points thing is running now, used £30 of points doubled up to £60 and bike was reduced from £80 to £60 so worked out well. Used to have Mr t credit card so lots of points but now cancelled card so points will drop :(
Just went to take library books back and managed to spend £25 on food, only wanted few bits that forgot last week but there were deals which I couldn't walk past. Think need to take cash out at start of week and leave cash card at home and not give in to dd just for a quiet life. So once cash gone that's it till the next week need to develop more will power.
  • Wow! What a bumper load of posts to catch up on! A bit irritated again as I seem to have lost the posts I thought I had made on Friday afternoon. Thursday and Friday were spend days, however, Saturday and Sunday were SFD'S so I seem to be slightly back on track (although a supermarket pop in turned into a budget busting freezer and fridge stock on Friday night - sorry Kat!).

Just wanted to say a massive well done to both NSK & LAGL for paying off your respective loans. :T It's really inspirational and a good reminder that all of the penny pinching and scrimping and despair at the large numbers will be worth it when we are in in a similar position!

Matt2389 - massive hugs to you. Hope that you are feeling better now, and really sorry to hear about your gran. Hope that you and your family have got some support to get you through this.

  • Well now I must apologise I was under the impression that one and all knew where my debts lay!......

    Wow Kat:T:T:T:T:T
That's just incredible. Well played to you - that's just put a massive smile on my face to read. What a lovely thing to be doing and also to want to pay it off quickly so the pressure is off. I take my hat off to you!

And again, missing for a few days - the times just runs by. I had 2 SFD's on Thurs and Fri as I was at work and always take packed lunch and too lazy to go anywhere at lunch. Then spending yesterday and today. Had an impromptu eurovision party last night with MIL, BIL, OH, DD and two good friends. We did lasagna (didn't have to buy too many ingredients as had most in), MIL bought key lime pie for dessert and friend bought some bubbly. It was great fun!:p

Spent most of the day at a Lord Mayors parade and fun day - lots of free stuff for the kids to see and do - but we got a Mcdonalds as a treat - naughty. I remembered before we went out that I had some vouchers in the recycling and rummaged to get them back out so my meal was £2. However, as ever OH took no notice and his was nearly £5 - sometimes I wonder why I bother to be good when he blatantly isn't. As I stayed in town with the DC and he needed to get cooking for the evening - he went shopping. Oh dear - what was going to be a top up shop was £70!! Not a basics range in sight - you really need none basics tinned tomatoes - really?!?!? So that and my abysmal effort last week means our whole food budget is gone. Although we have a ton of food in now and lots in the freezer. The best bit was that I wanted to stop getting heinz childrens dishes as back ups as they are expensive - DS now has a variety of lasagna, roast, butternut squash and sweet potato soup and chicken with mash and homemade tomato sauce - lucky lad!:p

Can't be avoided but OH also just been told he needs glasses and chipped a bug bit off his tooth so a dentist appointment is in the offing. Grrr.

We rent our house out up country and as the tenants (should be two blokes) seem to have a few more living in there and running a car repair business from there (blocking up the small cul de sac and not taxed) we have had to give them notice. Very unhappy with the management company so we plan to move - the problem is that not living close by we will have to sort the move from one to the other long distance and we know that competing agencies are !!!!!!s for not giving keys over to each other and being difficult. However, these guys only last year didn't realise that the last tenants had upped and left the house in a really bad state (mouldy baby bottles and nappies with cigarette butts anyone?) and because they didn't take any inventory photos at the start we couldn't prove they had ripped up half the garden so we lost half the deposit.

I know this is all nothing compared to what some are going through but the niggles pile up and get you down sometimes.

Congrats to all who can see real movement forward with the debt busting - you are an inspiration. And hugs to those in a bad place at the moment - especially Matt - We are all thinking of you.

    See you all soon.

Oh BouncyMinky! What a palava you are going through! I am so sorry you are dealing with all this and you are right the little things piling up are just enough to push you over the edge. Things only ever seem to come at once but I know you can claw your way out of this one... Is the house way to far to go just once to get the keys back and then deliver? I am waiting for a deposit to come back to me so can only imagine what it's like being in your position... Keep us posted with what happens with the house...something for us wannabe house owners to be aware of...
Is OH getting new lenses or wanting new frames too..? Food is hard, as much as you want to save if the OH wants something what can you do... make him do the cooking for a week....:rotfl:..However sounds like the store cupboards are stocked high!!!

    Hugs Matt.

Today was a small SD as i took advantage of the S&G glitch and free gift for some presents. Sold a few bits on ebay though so overall should be in the positive for today.

BouncyMinky - i ordered my last glasses online from a company called select specs (not affiliated in any way). I got a trendy pair for £6 plus delivery. They're plastic but overall i'm really pleased with them - really cant fault them. You just enter your prescription and pupil distance and bingo!

Thank you just talking (well typing) helps. Nsk unfortunately the house is four and a half hours drive away. At least £100 petrol each time we go up there. First time hubby has needed glasses - he decided on some but I'll def look at that online one as we'll both need new pairs in the future no doubt!
