No it's not arrogant at all to expect all people to have a pleasant experience when flying. Not sure how it is arrogant to want this nice experience for, not only me, but for fellow passengers. I think that's just polite!

Until you get on a flight with a baby, you have no idea whether it will cry or not. What you're saying is that you shouldn't travel with a baby in case it cries ? Utterly ridiculous.

There are far more annoying adults on flights than children. Snoring, farting, drinking like theres no tomorrow, smelly feet, smelly armpits, fat and spilling out of their seats into mine, reclining their seats just as i'm eating, need i go on ? Give me a crying baby anyday. At least i know the baby can't help it.

I've taken both my kids on long haul flights since they were tiny babies, why should i be deprived of a well earned holiday just because i chose to have children ? Yes, the children might not know where they are, but i do. They're called "family holidays" and i happen to class my kids as part of my family so they go everywhere with me. I don't give a stuff what other people think, i pay for my flights just the same as everyone else.

I agree, so have those that have smelly feet, smell armpit, fat, spilling out of their seats, those reclining their seats... and yet you are complaining about them but not a screaming child!?

(oh and I am not standing up for those who are loud, annoying etc. on flights, not pointing out it's contractdictory to expect some others to be polite, courteous and not smell but not your children)

    Why is it ridiculous?

Why does a baby NEED to fly somewhere?

As I keep saying, I don't have a problem with kids if they are quiet. It's polite and courteous to other passengers, NOT JUST ME.

Not just a baby. I believe 10 has been mooted as the correct age when children can get on planes :)

Then you are an idiot and you should perhaps re-read the post where I said that was just when I had my first flight.

Then perhaps re-read the post where I then repeated this.

    Idiot.

Mother lives with the father in the United States as he works there. Baby is born. When the kid is one the father gets a job back in the UK. Do they just leave the child in the USA until it reaches a "plane ready" age?

No need to resort to insults just because you're a plane nazi :)

I went to the DR in 1996 and stayed in a tiny hotel in a local village on the north coast. I got to know the locals and spent my money in their bars and restaurants. The locals and the tourists used the beach/swimming pool etc together, and when a big hurricane struck, the locals made sure the tourists were safe.

No offence, but that hotel could be anywhere in the world, along with the other resort hotels that have sprawled across the island. There's no culture, you won't know anything of the locals or how they live. You'll be there with all your comforts while the person serving you earns the equivalent of 50p a day. Most wont even venture out of the complex.

I'd no sooner go somewhere like that than go to Butlins here. Horses for courses, of course, but its not for me.

I work really hard all year around (as do most of it), I do very little in the way of recreation. My "thing" is a swanky hotel with lots of creature comforts. My home is pretty nice, my bedroom & bathroom I'm very pleased with - when I go away for 2 weeks, I want a better bedroom & bathroom than I have at home as my "treat".

I will get out & about, I love to go on the local buses & markets, ect.

I will tip little & often to all who serve me.

Well apologise and I won't be. But making sarcastic comments at me for something I never said is insulting.

Because as others have already said, babies are part of a family and some families like to go on holiday. They can't just be farmed out like cats and dogs. Adults generally can control their actions, have a wash, wear clean socks and shoes that don't stink, etc, babies cry for a reason, they don't do it to annoy other passengers you know.
