    !!!!!!?!

So what, we should be confined to Butlins for the next 10 years?! :rotfl:

Not gonna happen. She'll be coming to the states to see the total eclipse of the sun in 2017 (she'll be 6). We can't wait for her to be a fully grown adult because we'll have missed it if we do.

My sister used to be cabin crew. She says the kids were much easier to handle than the adults! There is no reason for anybody to feel unwelcome to take their baby/small child on a plane. They're no more antisocial than most of the adults on board anyway!!!

    Why the hell not!??

Why should you, because you have children, have the right to !!!! other people off? Please tell me, I would love to understand your reasoning!

I also never said that they should always wait til 10 either. I just stated that this was the first time I was on a flight.

As I have already said, I don't have a problem with kids on flights as long as they are well behaved.
Because social services wouldn't be happy with us leaving a 3 year old home alone for 2 weeks.

    Why shouldn't she come?

Oh you are kidding me? Such an idiot. Do you not have any family?

Sorry if I missed this, but why do you have to go to Cuba? Genuine question. I have a little more sympathy for people who have to travel to see distant family, but not so much for those who are choosing where they want to go on a holiday.

Your daughter may have more fun at Butlins, btw ;)

Because in 5 years it might not be in the state it was. Again, arrogant and frankly !!!! attitude.

I've always wanted to go, but with limited leave we've always taken holidays to visit relatives abroad. Now that I'm not working, DD isn't in school yet and DH is self employed we can manage the "required trips" as well as some we want to do. DH loves to dive, but hasnt been able to for 10 years because of the places we've had to go. DH has worked incredibly hard and deserves a break and a proper holiday. Time is running out to visit Cuba, and I'd regret not going when there was no valid reason not to.

I don't have much in the way of wanderlust, but Cuba isn't negotiable for me.

So it's all about YOU. A baby would hate the trip and probably the holiday too. But there you go, YOU are obviously worth it.

Not that I would leave DD with for 2 weeks, no. And as they work they'd have to take a fortnight's leave to do so I wouldn't ask them if I would.

I have no reason to believe DD wouldn't behave perfectly on the flight. She did at 4 months old. Perhaps we'll have to do a week shorthaul to see how she does.

Your attitude amazes me. I have a friend in Mexico with his 2 year old at the moment. They're having a fabulous time. Another is getting married there next year - and will be taking her 5 month old twins there with her. My sister in law is taking her 20 month old and 4 month old to Spain in a couple of weeks, and anoth sister in law is taking her 22 month old and 5 month old to Canada for a wedding later this year.

Frankly, you need to get over what is a completely unreasonable expectation. Thousands if not millions of children fly every day. The world doesn't stop turning if a few of them cry!

At 3 she won't be a baby. She's very used to long car journeys, and as a 4 month old was perfectly behaved on the plane (she got lots of cuddles from other passengers and slept for about 60% of the 8 hour flight. She loves airplanes and helicopters so no reason at all to believe she would hate the trip. She's extremely well behaved, rarely cries and deserves to spend some downtime with mummy and daddy.

I'm not sure why you're so intolerant!!

Would you like to have a bet on it? I'll bet you £10 here and now that Cuba will be unrecognisable in 5 years.

Fair enough. I'm not sure I'd agree that it's the best idea for a family holiday but that's just my opinion. Thank you for taking the time to answer.

Our son doesn't mind long car journeys but that's because he finds the vibrations soothing and can watch out of the window.

Amazingly, the Cubans have children, and they even have hotels that people with children can stay at!!!

DD is a joyful child, and very at home in the company of adults. I honestly don't think she's going to turn into some kind of monster on a plane. She'll have a wonderful time seeing the 1950s cars (she loves cars), the music (she loves dancing), the beach and being able to swim in the sea. Plus daddy not having to be on his laptop or working away and with her for a whole fortnight will be brilliant.
