  • EVERYONE has the right to go on holiday or visit family abroad!!!!

An airbus is pretty much like public transport anyway , so are we saying no babies on buses or long train journeys etc???

Babies cannot help crying , it's what they do , and yes it can be irritating but that is where something called TOLERANCE comes in

There is no tolerance now and I suggest the ones saying don't bring your babies are the ones being selfish , how about live and let live , the baby is not crying on PURPOSE

Children get distressed , babies cry , or did none of you cry as a baby? .... And why one earth SHOULDN'T everyone have the right to take their families abroad whatever age as it is very much like a bus in the air ;)

My Grandson cried all the way to Spain at 5 years old - I suppose you suggest we NEVER take him on holiday abroad because he is Autistic and gets distressed on the flights

His Mum was upset at his distress of course but MORE upset by peoples attitudes and she ended up in tears

She apologised to everyone around her , but my Grandson was not crying on purpose , he was genuinely distressed

He was much better on the next flight , he only cried for about 15 mins on takeoff but we still got dirty looks and my daughter ended up in tears again...

Are we going to stop taking him abroad because of the attitude of others???? HELL NO

He will never get used to flying if we stop taking him abroad completely and he has JUST AS MUCH RIGHT TO A HOLIDAY AS EVERYONE ELSE and in my book moreso even because of his struggles in daily life & he really does blossom on holiday and loves it

It's not the rules on how many children , what age they should be allowed onboard etc which needs changing - It's peoples ATTITUDES

But even if peoples attitudes don't change ( as I know they won't ) I will continue to take my Grandson abroad for the much needed holiday he deserves , it is just a pity people can't keep their stinking looks to themselves

As much as I'm for being able to take babies on flights, they have as much right as anyone else, and have been infuriated by some of the people's attitudes on here, I have to disagree with you on one point, a plane is nothing like a bus/train etc....you can get off those at any stop, a plane, not so easy! :p So if you're driven to distraction, and you really couldn't stand it anymore, you could in theory get off at the next stop on a bus, not very practical I know, if you're on a long journey etc, but on a plane....no such option.

I must be really unusual, because I am always delighted to see babies and children on flights and a bit jealous of whoever gets to sit near them. I don't think its possible for a baby to cry for 9 hours, so I think a teeny bit of exaggeration is being used, but clearly the original poster was fed up and irritated and once you get fed up feelings tend to escalate. Parents should try to be aware of other passengers' feelings, but in my experience they nearly always are, and the more other passengers relax the more the children/babies relax.

The only time I got fed up on a plane (and I would never sit there again for this very reason) was when I had a seat near the toilets at the back and had a succession of passengers who were queueing for the loo leaning on my seat, holding on to the headrest, chatting right next to me when I was trying to sleep. I had really had enough by the time we landed, and am very careful, having had the experience, to be very respectful when I am queueing myself.

But like you feel you have the right to take whoever on holiday people have the right to their views whether you agree with them or not and as its a free world people have the right to look however they wish and you should tolerate this.

How about live and let live on peoples views as well?

What I mean is it is called an 'airbus' for a reason , yes everyone is cramped in very close quarters and have to put up with each other but the same goes for other public transports and most people don't get off a train or packed tube , they just tolerate their surroundings till they get to their destination

Thankfully my Grandson loves trains and there are no tears for him , his Mum or even me on there as I did cry when I saw him so distressed and I think he did feel 'trapped' on there :(

I LOVE seeing him enjoying himself when we get there though and he has loved every holiday we have been on and thrived abroad! :):)

I do respect everyones right to their opinion and was just airing mine , the 'live and let live' comment was to do with tolerance of kids and babies on a plane ( and the world would be extinct without them ) ;)

P.S Giving a Mum with a child dirty looks or tutting or saying something derogatory is downright RUDE and I will never agree with it .... If you are upset by the noise then so be it but why make the parent ( and therefore possibly the child ) feel more uncomfortable and distressed than they already are???!!!
