Who would have stayed out of it if they noticed it at all, and would have denied seeing it as they would all have thought it wasn't worth the time wasted and possible court witness citation.

It's perfectly clear, and has been for some time, that some people approve of the action taken, others disapprove, and some have no strong opinion.

You are not in any way moving the discussion forward by continually harping on about it.

For your information, it is extremely unlikely that our respondent would ever face an assault charge (assuming he did not harm the seat kicker) since he would be able to claim self defence and the CPS would consider their chances of success minimal, if they tried to pursue a prosecution under the circumstances outlined.

A far greater risk than prosecution would have been that the oik in question pulled a knife or came back with a group of his mates.

I'm changing my stance on this thread.

I was just queuing up for some chorizo at the deli counter at sainsburies when some lout pushed in front of me. I was going to complain to the manager but decided to take the adouglas recommended approach so I punched him in the head.

It worked! I was served next for chorizo!

I'm a convert!
