    Well yes.

I think you're missing the point though........

Mentioning a fictional character from Star Trek who is violent does not mean that Star Trek fans themselves are violent!

It's a strange position to argue!

Yes to all, it was the one in Parkhead.

:rotfl: In that case I'm surprised you were the only one escorting him out of the cinema.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Unbelievable thread. Some of the contributors frankly need their heads banging together! There are obviously different views on behaviour onboad aircraft but here are a couple of opinions.

I fly about 100,000 miles a year and rarely have problems with screaming babies. As a parent, I would not be happy with my children wailing throughout a flight but remember - as was posted before - little ones have different internal plumbing so what is uncomfortable for us can be outright painful for them, and it is much harder for them to express thoughts or feelings in a way other than crying. Add onto this the fact that flying is a relatively rare experience for many people, getting up very early to travel to airports resulting in being tired before a flight even takes off...it's a lot of stress in one go.

I'm very lucky in that on the occasions when I have taken my two on long-haul flights (first time was when they were three and four) they behaved beautifully. The key seemed to be having plenty of things to keep them occupied. The most useful idea was reams and reams of paper plus a stash of colouring pencils. Kept them busy all the way from London to Johannesburg!

Moving into business class is no guarantee of being child-free. I have been on many flights through the Middle East, and it is quite common to see some nationalities who put themselves in First and the nanny/kids in Business. If you want to see really challenging behaviour, try that!

Most of all though, we all have different views and opinions. That is what makes a forum so interesting, but is there really a need to resort to insults and personal attacks?

No, I defended myself from his continuing assaults by restraining him and removing him from the cinema.
why did you choose to assult someone rather than get a manager. with your weight and martial artstraining/body building it might be easy for you to move someone but if you dropped your weight a bit while moving me along you would have hurt me

why would you have been kicking his chair in the first place?

May have been an accident - streching my legs. Someone has done it to me for a while in a movie, I turned around and glared and they stopped I didnt frog march them out of there. If they had kept doing it I would have left the film for a minute and went to get the manager to remove them

How long since you were in a restaurant? Or a pub? Or an aeroplane? Or an airport? Or an hotel?

It has been banned for years!

Not in Europe, Russia or Dubai it hasn't!
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Smokers in restaurants? In the UK? It's been banned for over 5 years now.

In my experience, a baby screaming blue murder is in pain.

I don't think children need to be "controlled" more to be guided into what is approriate behaviour. Which includes knowing how to behave on public transport, in restaurants and the like.

I've gone on holiday with my DD since she was born. Flying, speedboats, water-taxis, taxis, trains, trams, you name it and she's done it. Has never turned a hair, she just grabbed her little case on wheels and off she went. Get on a plane and she would go to sleep; we had a bag of new stuff to do (pad, colour pencils, stickers etc, DS and games) but she rarely used them, as she enjoyed sleeping! Most disappointing as I wanted to help with the stickers. :p

We've also taken her to eat in many restaurants so she knows how to behave in those situations.

See my above comment about smokers.

Half the time it's because the parents have no control over their children and when they say no to something or don't give them attention they scream!

If parents can teach their children how to behave and they are good then it's fine, it's when they are the opposite that does most peoples heads in.

I think a lot of it is to agree to disagree. Still it is a more of a case of inconsiderate people in general than just about kids. I chose not to have kids as I didn't want the screaming/hassle and I chose not to smoke as I hate the smell. If people chose to do something that might affect others just some common courtesy is all people want. :)
