Vent - babies on longnhaul flights

agree with the op but equally annoying are the kids running free and feral in any shop I might choose to frequent...I do find though that turning up the volume of the mp3 player almost drowns them out and although shooting them isn't strictly allowed it does help to play the image over in your mind0

I have been reading all of this thread since my OP, however I had my original vent which was the purpose of this thread. I expected some comments but didn't expect it to spiral into this. I appreciate we all have our own views on a subject such as this.
I do like the idea of adult only flights and would pay a premium for this. As regards to the comments about first / business class, I am not sure if the posters who suggested this have flown that class, but if so in the majority of cases anyone regardless of age can fly in that class if you pay the premium so the same situation can occur. I have experienced this in business class in the past.
I think one thing this thread definately highlights is the variety of issues which frustrates people when flying which I am sure most of us have experienced in the past.0 -
Yes but you know how your children react in long car journeys etc. and can make an educated decision whether or not they would be able to cope with a long haul flight.
Would you really take your children (or grandchildren) on a long haul flight for a holiday knowing full well they would get agitated and likely to become 'moany' and cry, disturbing other passengers?
On a long car journey, my son will fall asleep...on a flight, he gets stressy on take off and landing and for the rest of the time, sits with a blanket over his head
We obviously only found that out on flying for the first time and he was certainly well past toddler stage by then.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I don't mind children on planes who are well behaved, but ones who scream all the time annoy the hell out of me.
I have to put up with screaming from other people's children at pretty much every other occasion, would be nice to have a break whilst on holiday. Also kids scream in premium too!No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
I don't see why anyone hasn't pointed this out already, but I'm sure if you had been sitting next to a crying baby for a reasonable amount of time and had a quiet word with the cabin crew, they would move you to another area of the plane, possibly even upgrade you.0

There was a baby changing table. Never been on a long haul flight where there wasn't one.0 -

Totally agree. I'd like flights without drunken hen or stag parties, without fat business men snoring like trains, without groups of excited school kids going skiing, without teenagers who've just finished their A levels and are now off on gap years to 'find themselves' and like the sound of their own voices, without arguing couples flying to Lanzagrotty to 'renew their vows' because he's been shagging his best mate's missus....
The world is full of inconsiderate, noisy people. Give me a crying baby any day."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Of course they would. But where would the fun be in that? Nope. It's far more fun to sit there feeling indignant and outraged whilst throwing dirty looks in the parents' direction. Then you can come on the internet and moan about it."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I hate kids running riot and the parents ignoring them. Not just on planes but anywhere! That's why I go to garden centers at the weekend for breakfast nice and peaceful0
