We've taken DD to some very fancy restaurants and gastropubs in the past. She's never caused an issue to other diners.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

And if she did, what would you do?0 -

Don't think taking her outside on a plane would be that practical.0 -

If either of my daughters are crying on a plane i will, of course, attempt to settle them. If you cant settle them, then you cant. There's not really much you can do if a baby is full tantrum and is refusing to be settled.
If however, some jumped up numpty was to make any comment with regards to my parenting or the fact we are on a flight, I'd be tempted to throw them out the emergency exit (Maybe thats the real reason children & PArents cant sit in the Emergency Exit row)
Yes its annoying - but so is having someone look down their nose at you when you are trying your best.
Some health visitors suggest trying Controlled Crying for various reasons - tantrums being one of them. interuppted sleep is another. The practise is that you leave your child cring for longer than usual to see if they settle down. I seriously doubt that ANY child would cry for 9 hours straight.
Restaurants - equally - unless it is a "Adult only" restaurant then why shouldnt children be allowed to eat there? any reasonable parent will ensure their child is at the table and not running around in the first instance anyway - Hot food being carried by a waiter(ess) is the first hazard that springs to mind.
NO ONE should be banned from flying and as others have pointed out, you could always charter your own flight if its that much of a problem for you0 -

I've read this whole thread amazed that people can be so intolerant as to suggest babies and small children should not travel on planes. The 'holier-than-thou' types who tut and shoot dirty looks at the parents of crying children are far more objectionable I find - and I don't have any children!
On another note I was dismayed to find the old myth of mentally ill=dangerous wheeled out. I'd hoped this had been laid to rest but obviously not. I think it is important to note that NO categories of mentally ill people are more prone to violence than ordinary members of the public. People diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia included. The latter are far more at risk of harming themselves than anybody else - in fact 1 in 10 commit suicide. No doubt the discrimination and stigma they encounter in wider society contributes to their anguish.0 -
The screaming would get on my nerves too. But it is just something you have to put up with on flights. You can't stop kids from crying or stop people from travelling. More annoying was the mother on our recent long haul flight who decided she would change her kid's stinking nappy whilst sitting in her seat directly in front of us just as our meals were about to be served, despite the fact that the (empty) toilet was right next her!!! Now that IS selfish.
What if there was no baby changing table, and it was safer to do it on the seat?0 -
Isn't there always at least ONE toilet on a plane with a baby changing table?0
