Vent - babies on longnhaul flights

12 pages in on this thread, and I am reading excuses and "why shouldn't I" from selfish parents who really don't care about disturbing other passengers just so long as they get what they want.
Just acknowledge that you are being selfish and that you have no regard for others.0 -
Nope I wont acknowledge anything as I don't believe, and never will that I am being selfish by taking my child on an plane. If anyone has a problem with babies/children on flights then tough.
However, having said that I look after my child and am attentive on flights but all the attentiveness in the world does not at times stop them from crying.
I do agree with some people on here who mention the fact that they see parents who ignore their children on flights to run riot and do what they want. That is annoying. But those who genuinely try to stop their children from annoying others shouldn't be penalised by not flying.
Those who will be annoyed by any child who makes a noise, I stand by my comment of you either shouldn't be flying, buy a higher class ticket or stop moaning.0 -

Because adults are never noisy, are they?0 -

Bit harsh.
You say "why shouldn't I", well yes, why shouldn't people take their kids on, don't you think they have every right to be there as much as you do, and that they don't deserve to go on holiday etc?0 -

Do you think the parents were happy their child was screaming? Don't you think they were trying everything they could think of to calm their baby down? Trust me, parents don't actually like hearing their children scream - it's just as annoying for them as it is for you, plus it's upsetting too.
How do you think your OH's disapproving looks helped? Do you think they made the parents think 'Ooh! Silly us! We've got a crying baby here and we hadn't noticed! Looks like he/she's annoying others too. Fancy that!'.
The world is full of babies. Babies cry. It's not a nice noise but they can't help it, and throwing their poor parents boggy looks just makes you look like a prize shit."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I dont think there is anything wrong with taking a baby on a plane, but taking a baby on a plane without a dummy or other methods of soothing it is inconsiderate of the parent.
It's not the babies fault - its the parents to blame...0 -
