Surely non-stop crying for 9 hours = bad parenting?

I know babies don't like the cabin pressure etc, but 9 hours? There MUST be something the parents are doing wrong???

I don't really think there is any reason to take a baby on a flight. Any at all.

Please refer to my previous post (number 33).

Are you seriously suggesting I should not have travelled with my son under those circumstances?

If there is a noisy baby on a flight I wait until it goes to sleep and then give it a blast from one of those compressed air horns to get my own back :)

For some curious reason, despite being of similar volume, my air horn gets more complaints ???

    Fair enough.

However you can't predict how people will react having to sit next to a crying baby for 9 hours. If they punch it in the face then so be it.

I don't really think there is any reason to take a baby on a flight. Any at all. There is no point taking it on holiday, it won't appreciate it or remember it and frankly family should be willing to travel rather than moving the baby.

Disgusting - talking about assaulting a baby :-(

We were recently on a flight from MAN - PUJ which is about 9 1/2 hours long. Unfortunately we were unlucky enough to have 2 families with babies put in the rows next to us. The rows in the middle were empty and the crew moved the families into them, I am assuming as they had not paid for a seat for the baby. I know they will end up next to someone so this isnt my gripe. The problem was that one of the babies did not stop screaming for 9 hours which as you can imagine is extremely annoying. The parents got some very disaproving looks from my OH.

What gets me is why do people feel it is appropriate to take babies on long haul flights for holidays? Surely if you make the decision to have children you realise you may need to think about your holiday choices more, the child obviously did not appreciate the 9 1/2 hour flight and neither did the other 320 people onboard the aircraft.

On another point, on the same flight the cabin crew made an announcement that someone had a severe peanut allergy so they would not be selling peanuts and requested no one ate peanuts they had brought with them. We both thought this was odd as if your allergy is that severe woud you really want to go to another country to a hotel where the chefs speak very little English and the risk of nut contamination in your food would be much higher than the UK?

Then you should of traveled first class YOUR MAJESTY.

Are you serious? What do you expect people to do, cover their mouths with duct tape?, babies get distressed for all sorts of reasons, nothing to do with bad parenting, generally one of the best ways of getting a baby or toddler to stop crying is to remove them from the situation which you can hardly do when you're stuck on a plane.

When mine were toddlers I remember my son crying in his buggy non stop while we were queuing to check in and some prat behind me whispered to his partner, ' I hope we aren't stuck next to that all through the flight' you know, it's just as upsetting, distressing and annoying for the parent when a child is constantly crying and upset, and it mortified me when mine did it as I know how annoying it is for other adults when they just want a bit of peace so for god sake, have a bit of respect and compassion for others, most parents don't enjoy their kids moaning, whingeing and crying non stop either

I would rather sit on a flight full of crying babies than with an ignorant thug who advocates punching a crying baby in the face!

FYI, the easiest time to take a child on holiday, in my opinion, is when they are tiny. They stay where you put them, you don't have to worry about them running off or falling into the pool and they don't keep asking for money.

How about someone punches you in the face when youre being a whiny, moany ar**d passenger, just as annoying in my mind!

Well don't take it on a LH flight then. It is unfair on the child as well as the other passengers. Show a little thought for other people.
