Hi everyone, I've been reading this forum for a few weeks after putting my claim in with Halifax...the story so far....I had my 6 years of statements within a few days of writing to my local branch, then wrote asking for charges to be refunded, £4,536, had the 'declining' letter, so sent another schedule with interest this time (£5,319.99) and saying that I'm willing to go to court, heard nothing for a month so rang up last Wednesday and spoke to a nice guy who said that my claim had been 'escalated' and that I should have a letter by 4th July, decided to ring them again yesterday,(couldn't wait for todays post only to be disappointed), spoke to a pleasant girl called Gemma who said I should be having a letter by the end of the week and that if I don't then I should ring up next week...if it doesn't come Friday I'll ring them then. So I hope to have a happy ending sooner rather than later and will keep you informed...congrats to those of you who have already won and all the best to those of you who are still fighting :-) Forgot to say that I've only been trying to get my money back since early May...0

I made my original claim 25th Feb went through all the stages of letter writing, threatened court action and got an offer of half my claim. Persevered on the phone, 01977 627264 no one will answer by the way, rang 0845 7253519 and spoke to a very helpful young man who had a Customer Relations Manager ring me back. He doubled the offer over the phone which means I have got all my charges back.0

I waited 61 days initially to get the full 6 year list of bank charges from the Halifax. I then sent the letter asking for the full amount back including interest. They sent me the standard refusal letter saying that the charges were legal and they would not refund me. I then sent the letter threatening court and am waiting for a reply now. However, after reading the threads in this forum I saw a consistency of people who just rang the bank to ask them to re-evaluate their case. I though it might be too late to do this as I had sent the court letter but I rang them this morning anyway. A lovely lady told me she would pass it up for re-evaluation immediately (after I was very nice to her on the phone and got her laughing and relaxed) she told me that it could take up to 8 weeks to do but that IS 8 weeks from when they received the initial complaint letter, in my case from 12/06/07. So they now have until 07/08/07 to reply more than likely with an offer and then it is up to me to either accept or decline, if declined I can then enter into direct negotiations with the Halifax. The total amount I'm claiming including interest is £ 3345.45, so hopefully I'll get it all, but I'll settle for £ 3000 if need be. I'll post again as soon as hear from them with the outcome.
Ciao for now.0 -

I am quite sure they work office hours!
Just keep trying during the day - eventually you will get through. Also try the 01977 numbers!
Good luck!0 -

Ok...I applied for the charges..blah blah blah. (B.O.S/halifax)..they refused.... i asked for it to be re evaluated and threatened the bank with court... They have now got back to me by letter and offered me around 54% of the total charges claimed.
I know want to know what is the best course of action to take...should i argue my case and ask for the whole lot back? I dont want to have to go to court...or even lodge my claim...is it likely if i ask for the whole amount that i will receive it? or do you think they will wait for the court summons.?
any help is appreciated
thanks
