call the 01977 number ...i called it on Friday and spoke to Ronnie.....he said that he would get an offer in the post.......and true to his word i received it this morning i then called the number back and declined the offer as it was half of my claim without interest.....i was then asked what i deemed to be a fair offer i said the whole amount and the lady spoke to her supervisor and total amount has now been offer and i have accepted it.....i have gone down the court route but am too chicken and skint to wait to see what happens

Which number did you call I am trying and trying but to no avail..... did you get the whole offer with or without interest?

    Afternoon All

There seems to be a massive amount of difference in the time taken to deal with peoples claims, so it begs the question have I done it right.

If someone could cast an eye over the following and let me know it would be much appeciated.

20th May sent first request for reimbursment
25th May received b*gger off letter
    25th May contacted to FOS
29th May contacted the 0845 number to confirm contact had been received from FOS which was confirmed
3rd July called the 01977 number to be told that they have the full 8 weeks to respond and the case is still awaiting allocation to be "worked"

However i have seen some cases on here going through in weeks.

I am in no real hurry but I would love to know what criteria they are using to establish the priority in cases are.

    All the best

They are official allowed 8 weeks to deal with your claim, so you should have theyre usual we think charges are fair letter, then you ring to say re evaluate my claim, then the FOS will write to em saying pay full claim or provide evidence to why not. At this point they normally pay up in full but they do try to stall. read some of my previous threads!

    Hi Dream

I have already had the letter saying it all fair it's in our t's & c's which is when I contacted the FOS, at which point the claim went into re-evaluation.
So as I understand they have 8 weeks from the time the FOS contacted them to either offer up or tell me to bog off again at which point the FOS asks them to justify the charges which they won't and they hopefully make me some sort of offer.

Am I right or wrong or just plain confused!

Have you got the letter with the following in it from FOS?

"I have therefore written to the Halifax to invite it to:-
    • Make an offer which meets your claim in ful:or
    • Provide me with information I believe I shall need to reach a conclusion on the merits of the claim"
If yo got this letter phone the halifax and quote the above, and tell them you want the full amount no interest and they will pay up. I did yesterday and money is on its way!

    Thank you!

Without interest, you will need to go the court route for interest, I didnt want the hassle, FOS is guaranteed. Court its up to a Judge.

I first contact ombudsmen on 8th june as I originally contacted halifax on 19th April (unofficially 12th April), got acknowledge ment letter 19th june from ombudsman saying they are dealing with it, then another letter as above on 27th june which is when I rang halifax and they settled without the interest,. halifax said if i want interest to take it to court, so decide to take full offer and run. couldnt do another couple weeks! its done my head in but it was worth it.
