evening folks,
after many frustrating and fruitless calls to the halifax, I called thru on the magical number today and spoke to the legendary Graham. He asked what he could do so i told him he is the talk of the internet as a man who can get things done. (flattery always works). I advised that after over 3 months and many calls im no closer to getting my charges back. Without hesitaion, he said he would get something out in the post to me today. Royal Mail permitting, i hope to have some sort of offer tmrw or monday at latest. Ill let you all know how i get on and if i get my 2.2k back.
The guy Graham is the Man!
got a letter this morning offering me 1087 as a good will gesture. thats great but still a grand of what im owed. gonna call him on monday to barter this up. any advice on the best way to do this would be greatly appreciated.
cheers folks

Looks like I'll be phoning Graham on Monday too!
Phoned yesterday, promised a letter in the post and it arrived today - unfortunately not close to what I was asking but it's a start for negotiating!0 -

My advice would be to say thanks for the offer, and it is much appreciated: but that you are not entirely happy. I didn't speak to the legendary Graham but somebody suitably as nice. he asked me what I would thought was a good offer, he worked out a few figures and said that's fine! Got another £2000. Got the confirmation letter on Wednesday and am just awaiting the money! So good luck and remember, be as nice as pie.!:j

Yes spoke to Graham myself last week asking him to look into the £681 i am claiming for and true to his word he sent me an offer for
£151!!
So I shall be on the phone on Monday to have a chat.0 -
I had got my statements and a holding letter from HBOS, then i got the standard decline letter all within about 3 weeks. Trouble was the account number noted at the top of the letter was not the account i'd made the claim on!!! So i called them and verified from my reference number that they'd got my letter requesting full amount back plus interest, totalling £1700approx. They said this was the account they were refusing to pay out on. I told them, nicely, that i wasn't confident the investigation had been done on the correct account information since the letter was under the wrong account number, and could it be re-evaluated.
Fingers crossed!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

I find this extremely annoying as they have not even sent me my bank charge statements yet!! This has been been over 3 months since my request for the statements. So I don't know for what amount they have declined me for!!!Has this happened to anyone else? If so, can they advise me where to go next?
Hi Lorna
This is exactly what happened to me. I called them and was assured that they had a list of charges their end - however true to their word the statements arrived straight after. I worked them out and sent the next letter as part of the course and rang them and asked for it to be evaluated. Think this is just standard practise. Don't worry. Give them a call they were very approachable and helpful. The next letter will then be a standard reply saying 6-7 weeks. Stick with it though!0 -
Hi guys,
Bank sent me letter this morning with a "goodwill gesture" of £700,Took roughly 4 days after phoning and asking them to re-evaluate my declined complaint.

Me too got my offer today from Graham, about half of what I requested back-so looks like his phone will be red hot for negotiations come Monday morning! Good Luck Folks!:A0 -
hi, i am in the process of reclaiming my charges from the rbos. i have received the letter saying that they are looking into the claim and will hear in 6-7 weeks.
story is:-
our joint account got into trouble after my partner lost his job in september... well more trouble!!
since about march we have had our interest frozen and the account no longer can have money taken out of, just paid into. this is an agreement that we have with the bank to pay back what we owe onthe overdraft and the loan ( about £2800). we pay £20 a month to the bank. we are not in any debt managment company or other debt arrangment except for with the bank itself.
we are claiming back £3975 ish for our charges.
my question is, i understand that the bank will want some of the money back to pay of the money outstanding and this is completely acceptable, they want their money back the same as i want my money back.
but we want more than we owe, so what happens if they pay us more than the amount owed? how will they pay off what is owed and then pay us the remainder if we have no way of getting money out of the account?
any help would be greatfully received, i have been searching for hours but cant find anyone in the same situation.
