I read back through the thread (which I probably should have done before posting this morning!!
) I called that number and spoke to Richard, who was lovely. He said that because I had already actioned the court process they would pay out the rest of my money and the interest and bank charges once they had received the court summons. I am rather dim when it comes to this process, should I go ahead and start judgement once the 14 days are up or should I just ignore the court process now? Also, are Halifax reliable at keeping to their word? Thanks

I received the typical rejection letter on the 4th of June and phoned up for a re evaluation on that day. My case was not marked urgent however I have just received a reply today offering half my claim £750. I am waiting for a call back re negotiating for the rest.
So to answer your question roughly 2-3 weeks, It is worth phoning every 4 or so days to check progress, worked for me. I will let you all know what the outcome is.0 -

Went through all that process but when i phoned yesterday they had not looked at my claim yet.The very kind man Adrian said he would mark it urgent so i just wondered if it would be another few weeks. Jan grocery challenge £300/£210 spent so far.I can do this:T0 -

I got my "decline" letter from HBOS about 2 weeks ago so I sent the letter off this site threatening court action. Not sure what to do next... do I have to send another letter chasin them or will they contact me? Do I need to see a solicitor, and will I really have to go to court? It's all a bit real and scary now.0

Don't panic mate. What to do is phone them and give them the reference number that was on your rejection letter. Explain to them that you have given them 2 weeks since sending your letter to settle and you feel it's now time to start the court process. Tell them if they are willing to take another look at your claim that you will hold off on the court process just now. How many weeks is it since they received your first letter you sent ? Legally they have 8 weeks from then before they have to give you the option to go to the Financial Ombudsman. Work out when that 8 week period is due up. Tell them that you would like an answer within 7 days and point out that it's been however many weeks since your first letter was received. See what they say from that and then post to let us know how you get on mate.
Seriously - don't worry about it. I phoned them today about my claim and this is what the guy on the phone told me :"I'll be honest with you. What they'll do is send a letter offering you a percentage and put it straight into your account. You can then call up and tell them you're not happy and negotiate the amount. This used to be quite quick but with the backlog we've got it can take a few weeks just now. You also have the option of going through a court which you'll have to pay an up front fee for but we'd refund that".
They have every intention of paying out but try and scare people off. They try to make success seem very unlikely or even impossible. When they realise you're not going to be scared off they'll make an offer. Make sure you negotiate that offer and get as much out of them as you can.
*EDIT* When he said they'd probably put the offer straight into the account he VERY NEARLY said "coz it's your's anyway". He got as far as "coz it's you".0 -
