  • I have gone through all the posting and form filling and am now aiting for a court date as it would appear the Yorkshier bank have no intention of paying me any of the £4600+ they have had off me in the years gone by.

Does anyone have any advice in relation to the Yorkshire or any success storys would be greatly recieved.
  • It's taken me 3 mths so far with this bank - I have issued a claim through MCOL - £2000 - they submitted a defence (standard stuff) & it's being transferred to my local court (Middlesbrough) where I'm awaiting a court date (they have a case backlog of a week at the moment), so I'm just waiting (again !). Everyone keep going with these guys they seem to be one of the more stubborn ones & need more practice at paying up (I hope !) Anyone from Middlesbrough area going through court stuff or been successful ?? Cheers for this site, it's been brilliant for checking stuff at every stage.
  • Apologies if this has already been discussed on a previous thread but I couldn't find it anywhere!!:A
I'm trying to claim unfair charges back from Yorkshire Bank to the tune of £4400, I sent the first letter and they replied "No way"! I then sent the next one threatening court action and they have now placed my claim into the hands of their solicitor who has offered me £200 but has stated it's ex-gratia and that it's their full and final offer!!! Also that any further correspondance should be through the solicitor and not the bank.
Any ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated, take it to the ombudsman or write back to the bank or speak to the solicitors.....

Write the solicitors a nice letter saying that you will accept their offer as part payment and without prejudice only and will claim for the rest through court. And then take the bank to court.
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:

  • I am still waiting on a date for my claim to be heard in my local court but am wondering what happens now with the OFT taking on 6 major banks. I have 2 claims ongoing but YB are only defending one of them and have until the 29th July. Do I continue with the default of one of them on Sunday and what happens with the other one. An article this morning says claims are going to be frozen until a decision is made by the High Courts.

    Hi Julie,
My first post here also  although a regular lurker.

You will be fine, we recieved an offer on tuesday and still haven't sent it back. Just got off phone to HSBC and they said sign it and sent it back and they will honour it.

The offer letter is legaly binding, as long as you have sent it back whithin the timescale stated you will be ok.

    ;)

Best get my a$$ to the post office Sat AM then!
  • anyone who as been made an offer and have accepted it will get paid out as normal the recent OFT doesnt effect settlement offers made by banks, i was told this earlier this morning by a lady at abbey head office

I would like some advice on this please. I had a Yorkshire Bank account which was closed mid 2001 due to mounting charges which resulted in me being taken to court & obviously they closed the account. I wondered whether I'm able to claim anything back even though I eventually managed to settle the account. It's been on my credit record since as it stays for 6 yrs.
I would have to ask the bank for copies of records/statements which I'm sure they would be reluctant to provide after recent events.

Most info for refunds is on accounts still currently open - so any help would be appreciated x

Sorry - I should add no CCJ was awarded (for want of a better word) but a default is on my credit record
