I have contacted the Banking Ombudsman (0845 080 1800) and they say they cannot charge me again to "look into" my claim. They are writing to Yorkshire Bank to tell them this. Ha Ha
    Hi

Just to let you know, my mum recvd one of these letters today from her local branch...rung them up & they said it was "sent in error" as they thought she was asking for the statements (even though they had already sent them & mum had sent her 1st letter requesting money back along with list of charges!!) they then told her she had to send the letter again to the head office (YORKSHIRE BANK, 20 MERRION WAY, LEEDS, LS2 8NZ). I beleive this is a stalling tactic, as most local branches to the majority of banks are just referring the letters straight to their head office, who then respond direct to yourself. Well done for getting the FO onto their backs...let's just hope no-one has paid them.

  • I am in the process of reclaiming my bank charges from Yorkshire Bank. I have sent the letter from this website to them stating my claim and have recieved the following response:

"Thank you for your recent letter which has been passed to this department for our attention.

As you will appreciate, we need to make investigations into the points you have raised. In the meantime, we thank you for your patience in this matter and will contact you as soon as my investigations are complete."

How long do they have to investigate the claim as they have responded to the original letter however have mentioned nothing about the actual claim?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you
    Carl

hi everyone this is my first message on the forum so i must start by saying a massive thank you to Martin for helping so many people. Cheers, you are the MAN.:money:
I have taken four banks/credit cards through the process, and these are the results.
Yorkshire bank - £350.90 requested, got to the online court stage 10th April, recieved full amount 27th April.

Yorkshire bank card services - £117.81 requested, got to online court stage 30th march, recieved full amount 27th April.

RBScotland (AA credit card) - £265.19 letter 1 sent 2nd Feb offer of £100
    recieved 27th April.

Lloyds TSB credit card - £132.70 Letter 1 sent 20th Feb offer of £43.70 recieved 15th June.
Total claimed £866.60 Total recieved £612.41.

I then helped my sister in law win back £4863.29 from the Halifax, this got to the Online court stage but paid out the following week. I am now trying for my daughter against the HSBC, they are defending with DG Solicitors in Birmingham. We recieved a notice of transfer of procedings to our local court back in June then on the friday13th,JulyWe recieved a notice that a defence has been filed along with a allocation questionaire which needs to be sent back before 30th July. Looks like this one will go the whole hog. Problem is my daughter is now working in Tenerife Question-can i represent her in her absence.
Anyway gone on too long now good luck to everyone & once again thanks to Martin and everyone else assisting us mere mortals battle the system.
  • Bump but she would need to authorise you to represent her.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • Hi everyone,

I was about to make a Court Claim against Yorkshire Bank (with interest it comes to £1100) they offered £200 which I rejected.

I was going to try the Ombudsman as Martin seems to be leaning towards this route although I did write in my letter to Yorkshire Bank I was going to make a Court Claim. I believe there are no fees if you go to the Ombudsman!

But today they offered £425 - I could write and reject the offer and see if they offer more.

I dont know if I can go to Court or the Ombudsman if I reject a second offer.

Or should I accept the offer - it has taken a long time to get this far!

Any ideas or comments greatfully received.

  • I paid £10 for statements which I received eventually and was then asked for £10 to process claim "cheeky or what" I sent a very snotty letter saying they were out of order and they would not be getting a £10 to deal with a complaint!

I have had two offers of settlement so far but I have not accepted them - not sure whether to go court or ombudsman route!

  • I am in the process of claiming from the Yorkshire. I have received my statements with no problem. Can any one help me as to where I send my claim to as I am unsure. My local branch, Clydesdale or the Yorkshire Head office. Any advice or addresses would be helpful. Many thanks
