I am currently trying to reclaim my charges from yorkshire bank. The stage that i am at at the moment is I have sent the letter threatening court action if i dont get a satisfactory response. The time limit of 2 weeks which was allowed for in my last letter has now passed. What now? Do i go to small claims court direct or do I call the Bank and ask why they haven't replied. Cheers0

I doubt with Yorkshire that you will get a response by phoning so yes, you either go to court or consider using the Financial Omubudsman, check out Martin's article about using the FO.
Also worth watching Martin on Friday ITV1 on Trevor McDonald where he is updating his previous programme about reclaiming bank charges.0 -
I filled to take YB to court, they filed to the court saying they were going to defend the full amount. They are 4days away from the 28days they had to make a defense and I have won £365.82 of the £382.00 I was asking for. Dont anyone let them worry you into thinking you will not win please. I have set up another bank account and as soon as money is paid back I will be switching banks for good. compared to the rubbish service from YB the one I moved to already has imppressed me more then once. Thanks for all the help on here - no doubt this site has helped me get my money back.0

Hello everyone im in the process of claiming on two bank accounts with Yorkshire Bank the first account has gone as far as the Financial Ombudsman and they are looking into my bank charges i received a letter this week from the solicitors acting on behalf of Yorkshire Bank giving me a cheque for £200.00 as my claim from my first account is £1,263 im not going to accept the £200.00 but what action do i take now do i contact the bank by phone and tell them that £200.00 is unacceptable or do i just send the cheque back to the solicitors and go from there to see what happens0

I've rec'd a letter yesterday from the clydesdale bank t/a yb quoting a claim number for court but saying i failed to provide details of the charges i allege should be refunded with my claim form & enclosing a part 18 request requesting me to provide the information no later than Mon 30th July. I have posted the original letter to them today dated April & a copy of the charges. What a cheek!!! I have lodged 2 claims but have only been asked for 1 lot of details which is strange. When I looked on the online small claims court last night it showed both my claims but it looks like they are only defending 1 of them. What do I do with the claim that isn't being defended? the are 2 boxes to click on but am not sure if I click onthe top one if the 29th July comes and goes. Help!!!0

i won my claim with yorkshire bank for £1140.90.im on a dmp with payplan and currently yorkshire are one of my creditors.do they pay by cheque or do they deposit it into your account.btw my account has been closed for a while now but ive read they can reopen your account anybody else won from the yorkshire if so how did they pay you your money.thanx0

Yorkshire will pay the money in to your account, this will result in one of 2 things:
- You will still have an outstanding balance (ie owe more than £1140.90) in which case the refund will just go against that and your Payplan payment will continue to go against the balance
- It will clear your balance (ie you owe less that £1140.90) and in theory you will be in credit.
- Request your account to be re-opened (this will depend on your circumstances as to whether they agree)
- Request the balance that is left after you clear the debt by cheque
- Request the balance that is left to be repaid to Payplan
Personally, I would pay the amount owed, and then if there is anything left ask for a cheque and close the account.0 -
Hello
I currently have two claims with YB. I have put the smaller one through the small claims court - which I was charged £120 for. Going on holiday this month so cant afford to do the other one straight away. Does anyone know how much the Financial Ombudsmen charge for a claim? If I wait another month will this hinder the outcome or should I go for it asap?
Thanks0 -
