No, you send them one £10 which is the statutory fee for the charges details. You shouldn't have to pay them anything but this :)

What did they say the additional £10 was for ?

    Kez
Kez, They just said it was for them to look into my claim?? Is there anything written down saying I don't have to pay them again?

I've been trying to claim my bank charges back from YB and they have been really slow the whole time.
I've followed the procedure of Martins and am now at the point of going to court. The bank have now written and declared that they are contesting the request for my money back and I'm now wondering what to do next.
They have 28 days to sort their defence and I'm thinking that I will end up in court.
Has anyone else got this far down the line with the Yorkshire Bank and whats been your outcomes so far.
    Any help would be welcomed:confused:
with me yorkshire bank said they were going to defend etc but a day later sent me my full amount no quibble although they said there charges were still fair:confused:

Enter your claim at court, do it on-line right now if you like :) at www.moneyclaim.gov.uk find the words for your claim here (in the last posting) -> http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=400981

Then write to them quoting your claim number and add on a 'Self Litigation Fee' and see how quick they respond ;)

two letters here to give you some ideas as what to write :)

  • On the 27/02/2007 i started the procedure of reclaiming charges totaling £2663.65 including interest sending all the template letters. The Yorkshire Bank Have been obstructive every step of the way, including exceeding the 40 day period for the data protection information, as a result I reported them to the information commissioner.on the 30/5/2007 I started the courts procedure through moneyclaim, the bank acknowledged the claim and intended to defend all.At the end of 28 days no deffence had been offered so I requested judgment by default. Yesterday I received a letter from the courts stating that the judgment had been rejected because quote; A bar on judgment/enforcement is in place- contact CCBC. Ps I have received an offer of £200.00 on the 31/05/2007 which I ignored.

Can anyone let me know what this means and who is the CCBC as there was no contact number or address supplied. Thank you in anticipation.

I have contacted the Banking Ombudsman (0845 080 1800) and they say they cannot charge me again to "look into" my claim. They are writing to Yorkshire Bank to tell them this. Ha Ha

hi i wondered if anyone would beable to help me i am trying to claim back my charges from yorkshire bank im following the steps and using the template letters to get in contact but the thing is my account has been closed for about 2-3 years so i have no account details to provide the bank in order for them to provide me with statements for me to see what charges id recieved over the last 6 years this is step by step what ive done can anyone tell me if ive done something wrong, if it cant be done or what needs to be done next? any help would be greatly appreciated.

firstly i sent the 1st template letter with £10 postal order i also enclosed personal information eg d.o.b address at time of account being opened thinking this would help

i recieved a letter back saying i had to go into the branch the other side of my town to provide identification proof of address and tell them what type of account i held with them

i went into the bank provided all information except i wasnt sure what type of account it was id assume it was a current account because it wasnt a credit card or anything like that they photocopied my id and that was that

ive now recieved a letter saying they cannot provide me with my statements because theyve failed to find an account number relating to a current account and i need to provide them with the account number in order to process it any further but if the accounts closed doesnt that mean the account number will no longer exist and theyd need to check older records such as microfiche maybe ....

i thought thats what you paid the £10 for for them to find your information and give it to you im confused lol any ideas ??

    many thanks.
  • I think that is total nonsense, if you have provided details of addresses at the time the account was open and the approximate date of closure they should have been able to have found it.
I think a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office may be the next step.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
