Whilst I can't sleep I need to put some ponderings down regarding count down to donning a spotted handkerchief and moving.

    Money
I need to clear my debts before I move - aside the student loan is this really achievable and if it is - I need to get on with it.
    - adding it up is a start - I know roughly but not the ugly truth
    - maximise my earnings from s/e job and salaried extra p/t uni work
-see if there is realistically any time for 'other earning'
-make a semblance of a peedie nest egg if I can before I go to allow me to have breathing space for a month or so when I move
-the car is paid off in full the month we move - clever me
-meal planning and frugal living will really help me to maximise the chances of me achieving this..............remind self of this often.

    Work
I need to get a new job
    - what do I want to do - botanical, but what.
-finish teaching qualification before I leave, so that's another cucumber to my bow
    - where will I work?
    - how far am I willing to travel - I do like trains but they are expensive and time is precious
    - do I want to stay self employed can I/do I want to work from home?
-how much do I have to earn to a/support kids at uni (my responsibility only), b/contribute to new household, c/have a decent work/money/living balance.

I personally don't need much money to tick over but those around me need sustaining and I need to keep my sanity too. Can/do I want to work p/t?

    Children/Family
Currently mostly splendid - all healthy/happy.
Think about a relaxed period of adjustment to new DH becoming almost f/t (NB continue to heartily encourage his interests in all out of the house/garden activities)

Extras that could make life nice and need consideration in plan for world domination
Decent proximity to younglings/chums - once moved this is taken care of, I just need to make sure I keep time aside to see them.
    Good walking
    Growing my own food/cooking everyday
    Chooks
    Decent access to beaches
My own shed - a little indulgent perhaps but something to strive towards, one day be nice to have a shed, even one just built of windows :D.
Public transport/decent healthcare - something I currently don't worry about but lets face it I'm not getting any younger and petrol prices are hardly likely to decrease are they?

Clearly my plans don't involve robbing banks to be happy, I just want to make sure I prioritise the debt busting to ensure the other bits can go smoothly and I can think clearly. But this needs to be balanced with nurturing young minds/walking the dogs/cooking daily/eating well and not working self to bone just cos I can.

I also need to define others expectations of me as well as my own, I haven't shared any financial responsibility for a home with another person since I lost my original husband (how clumsy of me) when the kids were tiny 2 and 3 so I need to adjust to this.

How much do two teenagers at university cost to support by yourself - this is my responsibility.

How much of a contribution to other things do I need to find what are the expectations of me.

How different is the cost of living from here and earnings?

Ah such ponderings - exciting times.

    Night chaps.

Aw thanks :A fear not - EH brought in a 'stunt' pippi for the wedding day to look [STRIKE]pretty[/STRIKE], I mean human. I normally resemble wurzelgummage in shoddy/grubby wellyboots.

    :D

AND she made the budgetyness look epic and very classy - clever girl that EH. Only she can make recycled nutella glasses and a few twigs look 'country living' rather than 'stig of the dump'. :)

Appreciate the good wishes and happy futures - we all laugh a lot and have fun - I think that's the key (and a well stocked larder/decent sized pot/takeaway on speed dial for when it goes horribly wrong)

I had a nap last night on the sofa after tea - this was a bad thing - its now on the list of what 'not to do'.

    :)

Remarkably at the moment I feel grand.

Have a great weekend whatever you're upto as well chaps :)

Off to find some porridge (non burnt) and some lunch for later.

Let hope I don't eat my lunch at 11am which is a regular occurrence.

Hi Pippi! There's so much on your thread I want to blather about, I've had to multiquote. Lots :p
Hey up hope the accounts went well - I've been eyeing up my receipts. You know whilst sidling by.
I haven't done a thing since I wrote that :o we had one of our Games Evenings last night, and I had to concentrate on keeping enough energy to do that. Just about managed, tho I was practically horizontal by the end of the evening :o
Hey there thank you he was making biodiesel at college today (not heard any explosions, thinking it went well) so was having a relatively quiet one the night before.
The man-child (ex-child, I suppose, sorry!) was making bio-diesel? Wow! I'm tres impressed.
Mr R (as in Rock) god is home alone doon sooth so its been a quiet week. I didn't return with my new husband, need time to adjust and all that. He's off to deepest darkest KC land soon on a course. Darn sarf I think you call it (all Englandshire to me) :)
Awww .... hope the phone lines between the two of you haven't overheated ;) tho yes, adjusting to the new state of being is important. Its one that you've chosen, of course, but that doesn't make it easier :)
I also need a count down to moving debt pay off plan/save up plan.
    .....
I need to update my cv/linkedin

Working all weekend - be a quite full on one - so have a good one yourselves :)
I've got another cunning plan going at the moment, for a cats website, and I forgot all about linked in. There's so much, if you're trying to be self employed! Saving up plan, of course, is what thats about. Hope yours goes well - count down and intermediate goals are all good :)

Hope your full on weekend still has some relaxing times in there :kisses3:

    Here's your first reminder :A

    Work
I need to get a new job
    - how far am I willing to travel - I do like trains but they are expensive and time is preciousNo getting away from them being expensive, but as long as you can get a seat, you *can* work on them, I'm pretty sure you've got the electronic kit to do that ... if you're nearby to where you live, though, have you thought about a bike? DH would be able to advise ... and don't you have one too?

Extras that could make life nice and need consideration in plan for world domination
I want to live in this world, dominated by Pippi :j:rotfl:there'd be flowers everywhere. And little dogs :)
My own shed - a little indulgent perhaps but something to strive towards, one day be nice to have a shed, even one just built of windows :D.
Yep, its right up there with diamond-studded mirrors and waterjugs made of gold :D
Public transport/decent healthcare - something I currently don't worry about but lets face it I'm not getting any younger and petrol prices are hardly likely to decrease are they?
    See bikes above.

I also need to define others expectations of me as well as my own, I haven't shared any financial responsibility for a home with another person since I lost my original husband (how clumsy of me) when the kids were tiny 2 and 3 so I need to adjust to this.
Finding out and then negotiating about expectations, absolutely - you're not *obliged* to meet others expectations. You want to, because you love them, but there *might* be something thats not do-able.

How different is the cost of living from here and earnings?

    Night chaps.[/QUOTE]
That last one is true, isn't it, the cost of living will be really different from your island ... and new microclimates too, for what you can grow, hmmm. Exciting times, indeed!

Sorry you didn't get enough sleep, hope work is good and Bedfordshire is more co-operative tonight ...

  • Hey KC thanks for reading my rambling and trying to fathom something coherent in there. There is something about the 'wee sma' hours' isn't there? Makes the noggin tick over.

I'm going to write a list later and think a lot and fathom a plan. I wanted to do one after wellyfest to help count the months down on a practical way and not be sullen and sulky about the next part of life being a while away yet. Its one of the reasons we got married now, so that there wasn't a final uphill but a nice ambly slope towards leaving the isles and living together next summer.

    Todays plan is to

Wrap up and walk hounds - managed to do 6.3miles yesterday between charging around at work and dog walking. Try to get the steps up today.
Check banks later everything is very squeaky and I don't know when I'll get paid.
Write up expenses sheet - not much but petrol this month - although I must order a winter long jacket for PPE and invoice for it.
A bit of wood chopping free stuff and warmth never bad
Pick up eggs from a chum - might have to pay for these not sure - nothing left to swap
Meal for later - probably some kind of roast dinner with yorkies might be meatless as we have a huge cauliflower
    Hokey cokey - air dry
Lesson prep for tomorrow's hort student
    Money out for dd's buses
Skype the men in my life who are not here and wish Mr RG well and safe travels to the lands of England

Oh and make a plan for the next wee while or at least think about it.

    Have a good un!

    :)

Yep, have a good'un. "Mr RG" - love it :)

Pippi, since you're chopping wood, can I ask you about burning wood from pieces of furniture that have literally disintegrated, and can't be taken to a charity shop? I have a couple like that, sitting in the garden :o:p and I hear terrible things about burning stuff that has additives, or has been varnished. Varnish, I can see, but some has been rained off, actually :rotfl: and how do I know what I shouldn't burn? Its very confusing for a wannabe :D
