I shower everyday ... I don't sweat profusely or anything but I feel grotty if I don't have one.

I don't think I'd feel clean with just a strip wash and surely it takes a good while and makes a fair bit of mess on the floor doing it that way. Wouldn't 20 minutes just be easier to fill the bath? It doesn't even need to be that full...

Personally as others have said, I'd get a shower attachment. How can there be no set up for that? It fastens to both taps ...jobs a good 'un...and it costs £10.98 for Homebase. I'm no plumber but I just don't get how that's not feasible.

Also, I suffered eczema all through childhood and teens and I still washed everyday. I actually had more baths back then than showers because I was prescribed oilatum/aveeno bath oil by the doctor to soak in...

I don't know the full circumstances but sorry I just fail to see the barriers to her not being able to wash everyday.

All you've got to do for a strip wash is put a couple of towels on the floor and stand on them while washing, it's really easy and if water is splashed elsewhere well that can happen during a bath or shower too!

    .

Yes but we have moved on since then and dont have to live like that anymore.Thank God. A few years before that people had tin baths and thought that was adequate.
All the adults I know have a bath or shower everyday. The only people I know who have strip washes have disabilities which stop them climbing into the bath.

I went ten days once without wahing my hair and having a brief strip wash every day with a small jug of cold water. Hillwalking does that to you...I asked my sister how bad I smelled when she picked me up and she said it wasn't half as bad as she expected, more sour hair than full out rancid BO. And I didn't find it quite as revolting as I expected too, though I did make very strenuous efforts with the jug of water! Life wouldn't have been worth living if I couldn't brush my teeth at least twice a day though.....
    Val.

    Hi.

    .washing etc.

As Jojo said the main problem was the DPA issue. Having spoken to our DP 'Champion'at work he has confirmed that I am right, there is no problem using and publishing this informtion however I want to.

We are asking the school if they will forward the information to the parents as we do not have the addresses of all the kids involved but the school do but they cannot give them to us for obvious reasons. We will pay the postage costs if they will do this.

We have at this time decided not to go to the police, but the information is being kept safe in case this continues or flares up again at some time in the future.

I do thank everyone for their replies.

Have you reported the abuse to Facebook via this link? https://www.facebook.com/help/reportlinks

Also, it really would be worth contacting CEOP - they can be a great source of advice, support, and where appropriate, action: https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/Parentsold/

The police wouldn't be my first step, I don't think, till I'd tried these first, but I would certainly consider strongly following up to see if you can get f/b to take the offensive posts down. I'd let them know in no uncertain terms your daughter had be upset and distressed by the postings - they have a duty to those using the site to protect them from harm - as long as she's over 13 and keeping to the Ts and Cs herself, they should be supportive. Rather than asking the school to send on mail for you, if you want their help, it would be more worthwhile to ask them also to report the abuse to Facebook - it will add weight to your request, and they are more likely to oblige if two quarters are telling them that your daughter's well being is being harmed by the offensive posts. Schools can report directly through the 'professional' links that they have access to. F/B don't always act quickly, even in quite extreme cases, but they usually do act.

Really sorry to hear that you are probably a filthy stinking git. lol. Its also a matter of self respect and self esteem.Obviously you've got neither. Jog on and run the bath, stinker.

Well I don't have a bath or shower every day and I can assure you I most certainly do not stink. :rotfl:

I don't know why you think that being so insulting is acceptable and I can only assume you were not taught manners therefore I have reported your post to the mods.

Really, people really think it isn't necessary to shower everyday? I'm not criticising I promise but I'd reek!

I am one of those though who NEEDS a shower just to wake me up on a morning. It seems to wash the sleepiness away!

My hairs really fine too so it's limp and greasy if I don't wash it everyday. I couldn't bear strip washing..especially on hot days!
  • I agree that Mitcham roll on is much better than the usual sorts.

If more than 2 school jumpers are required but you can't afford it speak to the school or look into other sources of uniform grants.

Washing of hair at least every 2nd day & clean underwear/bra, shirt, tights daily is important. Trousers should be clean every 2 days or daily when having her period or in hot weather. If she wears a blazer this should be washed weekly at least.

Make sure that PE kit is also washed regularly. Mine tend to forget to unpack their's.

If she has started her periods make sure she knows to change her sanitary protection frequently as odour could be a problem esp if she is wearing sanitary towels for too long.

Take a look here for info on cyber bullying of look at Kidscape. http://www.cybersmile.org/

As I've said in the summer I've been known to have 3 showers in a day.....but the thought of just having a 'good' wash at that special time of the month...:eek:

The sad thing is - even for the rest of the school year she never ever smells, kids are mean and will still call her by that - It's what happened to me, well, until I lost the plot in Drama one day at more ridicule and beat up the guy who tormented for the past 3 years - funnily enough they soon dropped the name calling - but it was honestly so bad, I never went to school hardly because I would end up in tears, and I had been bullied all through primary school for being overweight - people reach their limits.
