You don't mean your husband was mentioned on the radio as one who is flying in?!

No ...apparently my cousin is Flying in from France for the wedding...another poster suggested that perhaps I should try and arrange a meeting with some of the family who are attending...as I'm not supposed to know they are all in the UK...my sense of humour wonders if I should drop my cousin an email to say that we will be visiting him in France and see what the reaction is based on the fact that I now know hes visiting the UK for the wedding!

On the other hand, if they were not planning to invite you (which you say you weren't expecting anyway), why would they mention it to you? That could be seen as rubbing your nose in it.
If you are not particularly close and you didn't expect to be invited to their wedding, why are you so put out that they didn't tell you it was happening?

Theres no reason why they should mention the wedding to me...but when I saw them 4 weeks ago and we were in eachothers company over a period of a few hours, catching up...it just seems a little odd that they didnt mention the fact that they were getting married...I certainly wouldnt have thought they were "rubbing my nose in it"...and I have tried to make light of it in my original post to suggest that i'm actually not "so put out "...just mystified.

maybe so...but it wouldnt have cost anything to have mentioned it when we met 4 weeks ago...to which I would have wished them every future happiness and probably popped a card and voucher in the post for them last week to open this morning...

I'm getting married in November but I wouldn't run round mentioning it um people I wasn't inviting, I'd see that as rubbing their nose in it.

No, but they might have felt that way. You didn't expect to be invited but perhaps they didn't know that (you are family after all), so they kept quiet instead.
  • Hi,

look at it this way, you've saved at least £200, maybe more if you were to buy a new rig out, good bit of money saving, now you and hubby have a night out.

Did you want the scene where it's mentioned that they are getting married..........long embarrassing silence.....you're not invited.

This really isnt a rant or me feeling as if I've been left out ....perhaps just a little mystified as to why no-one thought I might like to know...

It would appear that a family member is getting married today, not immediate family but someone I though I had a good friendship with, and no one thought to mention it...in fact I only heard about it when I was driving back from the supermarket this morning and caught a dedication on the local radio station.

I admit we arn't particularly that close and in honesty I didnt expect an invite but like I say perhaps they could have mentioned it in passing
    ?

It's obviously no big deal, then.

You say you didn't expect an invitation , but entitle your thread 'Oh well I saved Money ..............'

Just wish them all the best when you see them.
