Oh feelie! Big hugs. Is your OH perhaps feeling overwhelmed by suddenly being a Dad? Can I recommend The Bloke's Guide to Pregnancy by jon Smith for him? My OH was finding it very helpful in adjusting his head before my mc started. It's very bloke-friendly.

Is it worth having another chat with him? Don;t feel alone - I'm sure he is just overwhelmed and doesn;t know how to cope. xxx

I don't think I can be around him while he is coming to terms with things. For my health, I've got to remove myself from the negative situation for a while. I've told him to thing about what he wants, and to be sure that he does want me and the baby.

Everyone is just a bit too far away. I'm sure they would come if I asked, but I'm not very good at that. I'm used to doing things on my lonesome, why change the habit of a lifetime.

Got to get the house tidy, not managed to do anything cos of the morning sickness, but can't go away leaving it in this state.

Need to get OH to agree to feed the pets, I don't think I can manage suitcase and a rabbit on 3 trains and a bus.

Need to get some food in, OH is fed up of eating rubbish. Need to go shopping.

Leave the house and sod the food! Seriously. Don;t worry about it. He can clean and shop if he wants. Just get the rabbit sorted out and look after yourself.

oh, and get used tyo asking for help! People will be happy to, I promise. Just ask. Now is not the time to be proud and stubborn. Your baby needs you to have people around you.

I totally agree with Skintchick here! :o i've learnt that it IS ok to ask for help or for mom to come with me etc. Believe me, once your baby is born-you'll be happier and more relaxed if you accept a bit of help.

  • Feelie - sound off like you are better off with your mum for a little while. Good on you for taking the initiative. Glad the bleeding has stopped.

Skinty - glad to see you are still keeping an eye on us.

Keely - I am having a reasonable time with the MW and hospital...the maternity unit at New Cross were failing miserably a few years ago and I think that they have done a lot of work to turn things around. About time Wolverhampton had it's praises sung for something :T

    Hi folks

Scan went really well. the nuchal fold is 1.2mm thick so very minimal risk, good nasal bone, heart and blood-liver flow which gives me an overall risk of 1:2827 of having baby with Downs. Even better and more amazing the brain is perfectly round and all there (last time the fetus had anencephaly - the brain failed to develop properly).

I'm just so excited about it all now.

ps - it's just the community midwife I don't like. The team at the hopsital is really great

quick question guys. I'm hoping to fly soon. I'll be 30wks pg exactly the day we return home. Does anyone know of a travel insurance company that will cover me????

Most policies seem to stop at 28wks, even though Dr has confirmed that he's happy for me to fly until 35wks so long as I stay this healthy :D Morethan's policy says that I require to return so I have 10wks before I'm due. Am I due at 38wks or 40wks?????

    Thanks x

Just thought I'd join in. Only come on here every few days now.

Currently 38+1 weeks pregnant (or 40+1). Nothing happening yet. Still a few twinges, but nothing major. A lot of movement still, lot of stuff coming out "down there" but not fluid! Final trimming has been done (sorry if tmi!).

It's a nuisance that people seem to be having trouble with their hospital and midwives. I haven't had any major problems, but I have been a bog standard patient, so have hardly seen them! Life would be so much better if we could opt out of the NHS and have our own private insurance, so that we can choose where we go. Where we are, I have seen 3 different midwives, the doctor twice (and she's a right dopey ole moo) and have had one scan (the 20 week one where they wouldn't tell us the s-e-x).

Saw one of my neighbours trudging over to the swings in front of our house with her little one (we live opposite a field which is handy) and decided that I would go and talk to her even though it is so not a me thing to do. She had gone up to my bf a couple of months ago and said she had noticed me wandering around the block with the dog and if we wanted any clothes, she had loads in the garage. Cos I'm so shy and stuff, haven't managed to thank her. But glad I went up to her today cos we were talking for about 1/2 hour about loads of stuff. She was telling me about the hospital and has given me a load of reusable nappies. You forget how nice people can be! Must make more of an effort in future!

Just playing the waiting game at the moment.

Well done Pollyanna, you'll be glad you made the effort to go and talk to her in a few months I'm sure, it can be very lonely being at home during the day with a baby, having someone you can have a coffee and a moan with close by is a godsend!
