    Sparkle,

If you do ring the hospital direct be prepared for them to be really rude.

I rang to try and change my appt and I could not believe how rude they were, I'm over the easily upset stage but even so they made me feel like some sort of criminal for asking to change the appointment for my 20wk scan and said that they didn't think I would get another date which left me really worried as I am out of the country on the original date they gave me.

BTW you have to go private for Nuchal scans around here.

You might find your results are in earlier than the 5 days, mine was done on wednesday morning and I had the first results friday afternoon.
How long go was that? I'm just thinking i'll get them in 5 working days, any earlier and it's a bonus!

I have been looking upo about the nuchals, and by all accounts 'baby Mac's' nuchal measurement was in the normal range on Tuesday, it was 2.4mm

  • Talking of postcode lotteries, you know up here not only do we not get the nuchal fold scan, but in fact we don't even get the 20w anomaly scan? We get the booking scan at 13w and that's your lot.

I really hate the NHS sometimes.

I have to say the scan dept at my hospital didn't fill me with lots of happy thoughts either... When I was admitted to hospital few weeks ago the doctor who admitted me, 2 different midwives and another doctor all asked for a scan and kept chasing it - it still took them 48 hours and they weren't particularly polite. Bear in mind as I was 5 floors above them they could have asked me to come down with 2 minutes warning at any point (and eventually did when they had pointed out to them that they were stopping me being released and thus blocking a bed for someone else! I was happy to leave and come back but the doctor was having none of it!).
Once I'd had my scan and was sent on my merry way to speak to reception they went oh yeah your next scan is on the 5th of November... and I went "uhmmm no it's 8:15 on the 3rd... not the 5th - I know this because the letter is the only thing pinned to my fridge!" and she looked at her screen and said "oh yeah that appointment was cancelled" Looking a bit puzzled at my husband he said that no mail had arrived whilst I'd been in hospital. So thus followed a fun few moment of trying to get through to them that Wed/thurs I usually spend in Exeter due to my job. So the 5th would be out of the question. It's not a matter of taking an hour off work - it would mean moving a major meeting with my companys largest single client and changing my travel arrangements. Eventually she grudgingly admitted that there was an appointment on the 3rd 30 minutes after my original one... *sigh*
So that is what I got in the end well unless they change it again!

Have to say though the attitude down there was not very... caring and nice... So glad DH made it in time to be with me :)

I'm going for my 12 week nuchal fold scan this morning (10.30); but I'm still under the care of the feto-maternal consultants.

I really don't like my midwife at my surgery; she's horrid and insisted that I should have had an antenatal appointment by now (and didn't seem to appreciate that my care is being given by the feto-maternal team at the moment. She was really put out when I said I was having the nuchal fold as part of my 12 week scan so she didn't do the triple blood test and said the hospital could do that and then gave me an earful about why I don't have any labels or stickers for my hand held notes and getting things for free that others have to pay for

Anyhow, my scan this morning is with one of the doctors (she's really nice and appreciates that I'm really worried and panicky at every step) and she's offered to do my 19 week anomaly scan as well.

    hugs to all,

    Hi Cat

Sorry to hear your MW isn't very friendly. You are entitled to see any midwife you want - next time you have to make an appintment, why not ask specifically for an apt with a diffferent one?

hope that your scan goes well x

  • Morning all

In my 8th week at mo, and have felt tired in the past few weeks but today, my god! Can hardly keep my eyes open and that is after a solid 9.5 hrs sleep!

Oooo, could just go home and curl up in bed with a hot drink!

    No such luck though!

CAT I can't get over these grumpy staff. When I took DD for her 12 week scan the sonagrapher was a right cow, really grumpy that she wanted me to go in with her, even though 2 people are allowed:rolleyes: .DD had been crying cos she'd just split with her bf, and she was so ratty and abrupt. If these people don't like working with the public they should change jobs:mad:

Thanks for the replys ladies, Rang the hospital this morning and Millies mum You were so right! Basically was told that seeing as I hadnt even had a booking in appointment yet why did I think I was entitled to a scan?? I explained that I was worried time was getting on and seeing as my booking in appointment isnt until next week I wanted to make sure there wasnt anything I was missing out on.... to which I got silence .... So I asked if she was still there.... she said 'yes but I dont know what you want me to say?'
So I just said ' ok then thanks for your help'
I know it was a little rude but Oh well!

I was going to go to my booking in alone as we have done it before and OH is in meetings all afternoon Monday but think I might get him to come with me now...Im such a chicken! x
