Hi all not sure if anyone can help me - i had my 12 week scan on tues but im a little puzzled. I know for a fact that my LMP was on the 7th july now according to my scan it was on the 3rd of july so how can i have had got pregnant before my period ? how do you know know exactly when you got pregnant?0

hi newmum - your 40 weeks are just assumed to start 14 days before ovulation / fertilisation. You know when your LMP was, it would seem that you got pregnant 10 days after that date.
When you count your weeks there are always 2 weeks (roughly) that you weren't actually pregnant.
Also - your dates might change again - it is not an exact science, the dates are set by the size of your baby when you have your scan done. (a 12 week old foetus is supposed to be exactly 5.5cm long from crown to rump) as we all know, all babies are different sizes.
It will come when it is ready!
Edited to say - not sure you will ever know unless you only had sex once that cycle (or around day 10 after your LMP)
Not sure that any of that makes any sense - baby brain getting worse by the day!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

Hi thanks for that personally i think it daft going by the length of the foetus because im tall and so is my partner hence why we have tall kids my daughter is 3 and wears clothes for 5-6 year old so i guess im never going to have a 'petite' baby.
thanx for the response0 -
Polly, I had an episiotomy and it honestly wasn't bad at all. Admittedly I'd already had an epidural but I genuinely didn't notice him cutting and although the sewing took flipping ages I think that was more down to the doctor I had than anything else! (The midwife was starting to look very bored!). The stiches have been a bit stingy and sore and I have to be careful when I sit down but beyond that I'd honestly say it wasn't too bad really. So try not to worry yourself too much.
Keely, I hope everything goes well for your sister.
MFD, water is changed (I assume the pool is cleaned too!) and fresh run between each lady, I really fancied a water birth but discovered (when I went into labour) that my hospital won't allow it as my BMI is too high. The pool at my hospital is basically just like a HUGE bath!
Being stitched up took ages for me too-although i had to wait for a doctor to come and do mine as the midwife didnt feel confident enough to tackle my three 2nd degree tearsthe swelling made my bits feel worse then anything-now its gone down its not too bad. I admit the stitches were worse then the actual giving birth bit
(i only had gas and air throughout though)
my sister; although she has done tests at home, which have been positive and she definately felt 'different' her gp has insisted their test came back negative and dont want to know  so shes going to wait a couple of days and see how it goes ie with bleeding etc and then go back and insist they do something ie another test or something.
How are you getting on? sleepless nights yet? xMommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0 -
last mw appointment today. heartbeat good and strong, and measuring about 8lb 6oz!! baby not engaged at all but headdown
i am well and truely fed up, 8 days left till due date but midwife refused to do a sweep until i'm postdates, so booked in on the 13th.
my DD is doing my head in as well, i know it's because i'm tired and fed up, but she's being really clingy and wont leave me alone at all, i think she knows that something is up and she's only 23 months old but i feel i want to lock myself in a room till this baby comes. she is so willfull, she wont eat, my house is a total ****tip, DH is useless and leaves crap lying around and expects me to clean it up. i did the ironing on monday and the basket is still sat in the kitchen coz it's too heavy for me to carry upstairs, argggg i want to cry!0 -
heather have a hug, im glad im not the only one at the moment. me and OH have had words and now we are just walking past each other. kids are driving me crazy and i was so lazy they had soup for dinner so i didnt have to do anything? there is ironing just done lying around toast on the floor and everything is everywhere.
OH has now went out to see his friend and since moving nearly 10 weeks ago all i have done is sit in this house alone, oh and decorate. no one visits and i feel like im imposing when i take 4 kids out as oh usually leaves me to it?? i just want to scream at the moment. 21 wekks gone and im sitting here thinking what have i let myself in for?
hope things get better your end and if you fancy a moan or to run away to a desert island for a few days give me a shout!!What's for you won't go past you0 -

Girls I'm dashing in here in a rush and have not read anyone's posts.
I need some reassurance that what I'm experiencing could be perfectly OK.
At about midday i noticed some pinky/browny discharge when I went to the loo, only when i wiped. had more half an hour later so called midwife - on holiday. Called GP - on holiday!
spoke to another GP who told me to go home asap and lie down.
She couldn;t get me a scan today so I have to wait till monday mornin.
I am at home lying on sofa with feet up.
discharge is continuing but still only when I wipe not in knickers, having to wee a LOT, boobs still a bit sore, PG test showing line.
Now I know this could be badbut is there any chance it ocould also be OK?
I've Googled but it's all conflicting and I trust you guys.
Just hoping for reassurance that this can happen and be OK. Last time i went to the loo there was a teeny tiny spot of bright red but mostly a watery brown stuff like the very last days of your period.
EDIt - forgot to say I have grmbling in my abdomen but not what I would call cramps. And i feel sick but maybe cos I am worried and starving. Hubby has gone ot get fish and chips for me. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Secondly itcould be an implantation bleed, I had one, I also had a bleeed the other day and the lady at the EPU said that if it was more browny that meant it's not fresh blood so not as worrying, just rest up and try to relax.
I know it's nerve wracking, I had my bleed on the sat and couldnt get scanned until the tues as it was a bank holiday
I'm sure you'll be fine, also he grumbling can be normal at this stage too, as everything is changing and settling.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0
