There is a pregnancy thread at the top of this page (it's a sticky so it is always there - doesn't pay to make the pregnant ladies search ) where you will find lots of pregnant ladies to chat to, offer advice and generally keep an eye on each other.

I'm a first timer too 18+3 and I don't know where I would be without the luvverley ladies on the pregnancy thread :A

I find www.bounty.com quite useful. They do the freebie packs and have coupons for stuff.

Hi all.
Thought I'd give you an update, went for my scan today, baby is alive and kicking, I'm actually 11+3 not 10+2 so they done the nuchal translucency.

I'm now in turmoil as my chances are 1 in 51 of my baby having downs, I should be about 1 in 960
I've been sobbing most of the day, even Babys Dad had a cry, I'm booked in for the CVS on Tuesday, so we have to travel up to London Kings college hospital for that.....

Aww astonsmummy I'm so sorry to hear that... I had a chat to DH about if we are going to have the tests if they recommend them. DH says he'll love any child no matter what and it's my choice if I want the tests and should everything be indicating downs then it's my choice what I want to do. I start crying just thinking about it! Regardless I'd want to know... I don't know what I'd decide and probably won't until the situation arises if ever but I am crossing every digit for you hun I really am!

Just changing my due date after having my dating scan today - moved from 12th April to 8th April so now 13 weeks 1 day. Am over the moon as everything ok. I had the NT scan and measurement was 1.8mm which I was told was good ?? Will not have my blood taken until Monday and will be a while until I get the official results but I feel ready to tell the world now. Have 4 lovely scan pictures to show everyone.

This is my 3rd, I have two boys ds1 nearly 8(nov), ds2 nearly 6(Oct).
Are you going to find out sex of baby?? I am still unsure what to do....

The strangest thing happened to me yesterday.

I will start from the beginning...Back in July I interviewed for a position in a school, which I didn't get. However the deputy head (one of the interviewers) said he was very impressed with me and would give me a call if another vacancy came up, I just dismissed this as a nice get lost call and have since forgotten all about it.

Anyway yesterday I got a call from a lady from the school saying a position has arisen (hours are ideal for me) and she has been asked by the deputy head to call me for the position. I said I would be very interested, but went on to tell her that I am now pregnant and would they still be interested in me in this situation?

She said she would have a word with him and call me back. I did not get a call yesterday and have not had one today either....

Now I know I didn't have to tell them I was pregnant or make an issue out of it, but I wanted to be upfront with them and not seem deceitful in any way. I also wasn't realistically going to be applying for a new job until I was on maternity leave next year, so I would rather be honest with them and they come back to me saying they will definitely call me if any vacancies arise for the next school year.

I am now concerned that as I have said I would love the job, they might be finding it hard to turn me down for legal reasons, but I would hate to feel that I have backed them into a corner.

Sorry for the long post, but I don't know whether I should phone them tomorrow or wait to see if I hear back, which may be never and may also mean that they would not consider me in the future??

astonsmummy - my thoughts are with you. Stay strong. I hope you are okay. I can't even imagine what you are going through. Not sure if there are any other ladies that have experienced something similar who could tell you about their experiences?


Redmel - I would leave it until Monday. It's very easy to get distracted when recruitment is only a part of your role...I have (unintentionally) left people hanging before when all I needed to do was get around to having a conversation with another manager or whilst waiting for HR to respond to a question. I know it's tough when you are waiting for the phone to ring but patience is a virtue (so they tell me!)
As an aside, wouldn't changing jobs at this stage affect what you are entitled to in terms of maternity pay?

Yes it would affect my maternity benefits, but this is as close to my dream job as I am going to get for many years, so if there's an opportunity there I would love to take it......

I wonder if you can get maternity pay from two jobs??????
