• Yay - good on you Sarah! Florence is a lovely name.

Just a quick post - have been sat in a meeting for 4 1/2 hours today and my coccyx is killing me...just got home and about to go for a lie down.

I am sure I felt some baby movements whilst I was sat in my meeting this morning - it was the first time I haven't cried (wouldn't go down too well in a room full of blokes!)...I am still a bit unsure of what they are - I feel something and then I am like 'hang on a minute - bubba is moving' :j :j

Hubby had 2 moles removed this morning and was supposed to be going into work for an hour or so to do some paperwork. Called him when I finished my meeting and he said he would be back at 4pm  I said 'okay, see you then' and put the phone down...he called back and said he was coming back now ;) God I am a cow :o

March is going to be a busy month on the pregnancy thread! There's loads of us due! Which means loads of us having 20 week scans in the next 2 or 3 weeks :T here's hoping for lots of healthy happy, beautiful babies :A

  • Does anyone have any good vibes to give me about water births? There are two pools in my birthing centre and I am thinking of using one, but haven't quite decided yet (plus it depends on if they are free when I go in I suppose).

I know a girl who just had one in stoke and she absolutely raves about it - she had no tearing at all which could be one of those things but could also be attributed to the water.

Need to get working on my hubby on this - I quite fancy the idea of it but he thinks it is a load of hippy !!!! :rotfl:

Mind you - I seem to be getting better at this emotional blackmail malarkey :o

Sending you labour vibes - I might even go out for a curry for you later ;)

Haha, make sure it's a spicy one. I can't eat spicy food at all, so don't really want to have to try this one. Might if I get desperate though! Don't want to go all the way to 40 weeks, just in case I am 2 weeks more than the doctors say.

I've got my swimming top packed, didn't see the point in packing the bottom bit :p and am gona get bf to get his trunks packed as well. He said that he is going to buy a bright pink pair just to get me laughing in labour, aahh!

Labour just doesn't sound as scary as the whole tearing thing. If labour gets too bad, I'll ask to be transferred to the delivery suite a floor up from the birthing centre and get an epidural, but ripping petrifies me!

And I don't think she's going to be a little one! I'm only little, but bf ain't!!

Polly if you do get to have a birthing pool please let me know how it goes? I'm starting to think it might be a good idea but I'm wavering between that and an epidural! :rotfl: I'm all in favour of drugs if they stop some of the pain - I have a pretty high pain thresh hold but I'm NOT looking forward to labour it has to be said!!! On the other hand maybe the pain won't be too bad in a birthing pool and there might be less ripping which I am SO in favour of :D

Thinking about it logically (well as logically as baby brain allows!) then would you think that you might tear more in water? I'm just thinking that your skin becomes softer when it is in water...which makes it weaker....or does it make it more 'elastic' (I wish lol)

Anyway - I'd say if you get a chance, give it a go. If you don't like it you can get out at any point. If you don't take the pool then someone else might!

Stupid question, but do they change the water in the pools between births?

My 20 weeks scan (although i'll be 19 weeks exactly) is on the 16th October. Its quite exciting cos my sister is due 8 weeks before me and my best friend is due 8 days before me so we are all going through it together! My sister is having a boy but i'm secretly hoping for a girl, the old wives tale with needle and ring have said i'm having a boy.

I'm sure these twinges and pains are normal but they aint half getting me down at the moment, plus i feel awful taking time off work cos i work in a male environment and i'm pretty sure they'll all be muttering behind my back.

Has anyone been to relaxation classes? Is 17 weeks to early to be going to these types of things. It sounds just the ticket, i never get any peace at work or home!! x
    :p Love being a mummy
  • Ah - jenkelly - you reminded me what I wanted to tell people.

I am going to Aquanatal classes (was my 2nd last night!) and they are run by midwives. So we get a chance to ask all those niggling little questions that you forget/don't have time to ask at your appointment and that it is not worth calling the midwife about.

I'm sure that we can't be the only place in the country to do them so I would highly recommend them to anyone over 15 weeks. You can also go back after you have had baby as long as you have stopped bleeding.
