Because I spent 2 nights and 3 days on IV in hospital through being so dehydrated from vomiting. They wanted to check pregnancy was ok and that it wasn't twins (no sign of a second heartbeat!) - it is NOT standard procedure! And to be honest you can't see much at this stage anyway :) All you see is a shadow and a tiny pulse which is the heartbeat :)

Oh I see. Yuck for you - hope you're better now. I've had some bad sickness this afternon but managed not to actually vomit (was a close call though). Spent a couple of hours in bed but it has only helped a bit. Thankfully hubby is being fantastic.

Eat little and often. Try to have a banana every day or every second day for the potassium. Dry crackers are great to nibble as are dry toast. Have a glass of milk - I find it can help. If you think you need to have a nap then go have a nap - it will get worse if you feel tired or get too run down. Don't force yourself to eat things just because it's what's "healthy" or what has been cooked - sure fire way to get real icky.
Drink lots of water but try to leave about 10 mins at least between eating and drinking - for some reason drinking and eating too close together can make you throw up if you're already feeling queasy...

BTW not better but it's being suppressed to a point where I feel I can actually leave the bathroom without fear of yacking up thanks to drugs... not ideal when pregnant but they are worried I'd dehydrate too quickly again without them *sigh*

I go back to work tomorrow, to my job i don;t like :( after a week off and I'm dreading it. going to tell my boss tomorrow so if i am sick I can just call in without worrying. I refuse to let my rubbish job make me or my baby ill. I so want to start my maternity as soon as I possibly can.

Skintchick if it's illness directly accossiated with your pregnancy then it isn't counted as "normal" sickness but you will probably have to speak to your GP... Any "maternity" illness can't count towards your annual sickleave total.
However if you hate it so much why not look for a new job? Another company cannot discriminate against you and refuse to offer you a job if you are the best candidate just because you are pregnant.
I don't always love my job (well I love my job but hate my main client) but I look at it as "well if the worst happens and I for any reason loose Bean then what would I do?" - because staying only for the maternity pay isn't enough neither for you nor the company...

I'm sat yawning trying to stay awake till 11 - otherwise by the time I wake up tomorrow morning I'll be feeling queasy again *sigh* and probably have to dash for the loo to yack up - not how I like waking up!
So trying to keep my eyes open another hour although I'm ready to nod off any minute! ARGH
I hate feeling sick - it big time sucks

I gave up my career when I got married, so now I have a job I don;t like with people who are mostly not very nice. It sucks. If i did lose the baby then I'd just keep trying - there is nothing I am qualified to do round here (my career was in London) and being a full time mum is my only option now for getting out. I've been through all this and really there is no other option unless hubby will let me just give up work anyway! (He won't lol)

I've had a bit of a rubbish day for not feeling great today, felt mildy nauseous all day really not helped by DS's diarrhea_pale_, headache on and off, random sharp pains in my right ear  and a shooting pain through my left shin bone:(

but still feeling happy as took another test to compare to the one I took after my little bleed and its deffo a stronger line so thats a good sign all its going ok:j

My 2 pg friends gave birth on fri nite/sat morn even though they were due 3 wks apart one was an unplanned home birth so I thought I'd share her story taken straight of her bump group on facebook...
Its an open group so feel free to take a peak but please dont write anything as my family are in the group and my pg is a secret:shhh:
"So heres wt happened excuse the mistakes not slept since Thurs night. Well as u know all was going well- I'd had a show about 11.30am and the pains started. They werent really bad until about 9.00pm and got gradually worse. At 11.30pm ish we went of to labour ward only to be told to go home because i was only 2cm dilated! i was gutted. Came home got in the bath and the pain wasn't really getting much worse. 45 mins later i was kneeling up on thef loor leaning on th sofa and i just knew that i would never make it back to the labour ward. Hubby rang the ward who were saying things like, can u see the head - no he couldnt, they decided tosend an ambulance because by ths stage was screaming "Its coming" - Just as the paramedics walked through the door, baby was born - flop onto a couple of cushions that I had been kneeling on! Well it was like a comedy sketch - one paramdic was a trainee and eventually decided to check his watch, the woman was flapping about trying to get baby warm who had come out still inside her sack! The dog was having a good sniff at this thing on the floor - i ws trying to stand up, with baby still attached to me and in the meantime the third paramedic came in wth the entonox and said "Oh do we not need it now" My mum ws here she was saying things like "I've never seen a birth before and all i wanted to do was sit on the sofa! They took me of to hospital - we are both fine - they weighed baby, she was 61b 12oz.
They were really good with us on the labour ward and instead of sending me down to one of the wards they let us stay on the labour ward in our own room till this morning. We came home at 9.30! "
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

Unsure of the sex as the baby was playing games during the scan, first looked like a girl, then a boy.

So got a wee surprise happening!!
  • Hello everybody

Again, been a while since I've been on here. Used to be here constantly when I was at work.

It's 4am in the morning and I am up again as I can't sleep. Not sure if this is normal at 37 weeks pregnant, but there you go. I've had a fairly normal pregnancy in the grand scheme of things, little bit of sickness at the start, no cravings etc. But now I feel like I am going crazy. I can't sleep for anything. I can appreciate most of it is down to feeling incredibly uncomfortable in bed. It now hurts to roll over, so I'm kinda stuck most nights.

It seems to have gotten worse since I gave up work at 32 weeks and I'm not sure if it's because I'm gradually getting bigger, or because I am supposedly less tired due to doing nothing all day and not being at work, or a combination of both, but I do know I couldn't cope with still going to work at this stage!

I'm trying to do everything to let the little madam out of there as I could actually be 39 weeks going by my menstral dates, but nothing so far.

What do other people do to sleep? It's driving me nuts. And I'm doing my best to not wake bf up as he still has to get up for work.

Just to make a note on what has been said already by the way, I flew to Austria when I was about 23/24 weeks (never occurred to me to not to) and everything was fine (admittedly flight is only 1 1/2 hours), but at the time I was going through terrible backache, so found it all a little uncomfortable.
