Just to let anyone interested know - i got a travel cot today, in asda, reduced to £12.50 - there weren't many left in my branch, but it might be worth checking out your local asda if your after a travel cot.

It looks just like the one I had for DD, 8 years ago - i'm sure i paid about £50 then!!

*moan alert* had a difficult day today. About half 11 this morning I stood up from the sofa and my back suddenly went into a killer pain moment. For a split secodn I did wonder if it was a contraction - but it's been constant ever since then and my tummy isn't hardening or anything. It's the bottom right hand side and now my waist area is feeling tired and a bit sore too. :(

I phoned a friend who is a midwife who thinks it sounds like growing pains - I was away all weekend at a wedding and perhaps I'm just really tired out??? It's a type of pain I've not experienced before.

I'm all propped up into a position thats the least sore with a hot water bottled on my back and feel much better but it was a real fright to begin with - has anyone experienced anything like this???

Hubbie has skipped his gym session to go to the shops (can't move let alone think of driving!) and has promised to come back with chocolate for me :D He's a real star.

Hello to everyone else  especially sarahsaver :D

  • squishyclaire - I really feel for you. I was MISERABLE for weeks. Forget the house cleaning! I didn't touch it, or go in the kitchen for several weeks. But it does gradually get better. I found out the Folic Acid was making me feel worse too - but not until I'd already been at 12 weeks! I was happy to stop taking it.
Sarahsaver - Hang in there! Has the MW told you if/when they're going to induce you?!

I'm having an OK day. I see now how much my job really stresses me out. I feel so much better on the weekends, I sleep better, I have more energy, more positive, everything. But during the week, I feel tired and low. I find it so much more difficult to not get stressed at work - anyone else find it difficult sometimes?
Thanks everyone for all the tips on flying, it makes me feel a whole lot better. It's quite likely I'll have to fly back to America in Nov and I've been so nervous about it. But many of you have flown when pg before and that makes me feel much better! Thanks!

    Thanks for that Emma :money:

Any thoughts on TENS machines ladies? Are there different strengths etc?

I was checking in Boots the other day and they are £29.99 to rent (and £60-ish to buy) so this looks like an absolute bargain.

    Do they actually work though?

From the looks of it that's just a normal TENS not an obstetric ones - they say if you're using it for labour it should be an obstetric one so that you've got a boost button to use during contractions. Hence why it's more expensive. You can get normal ones at that price or even less from other places too I think.

I'm not sure if anyone who's used both types can comment on whether it makes much difference in practice having a maternity one to a normal one?

    re tens machines:
i used one with my DD and it really helped at the start, BUT normal tens machines are not the same as maternity ones. i have a regular one to help with a joint problem and the pads are smaller and it doesn't have a boost button. i rented a mamatens machine from tesco and the pads are twice the size, there is a boost button for during contractions and you can increase the intensity for 2nd stage labour (the pushing bit!). i would really recommend that you get a proper maternity one.

cazscoob- i only got one home visit at 35 weeks to do a risk assessment of my house and have a chat. it depends on your area, i normally see the mw at the drs, i have 1 appointment on friday and then its hospital care if baby is late. i could have anyone of 10 mw come out to do the actual delivery, my own mw is one of the ones who may come out but it depends who's on duty that day.

We are having roast chicken. I can face eating it but I was too tired to cook it! Was nearly sick on the train out of London today after a meeting. Can;t believe how ill being PG makes you! It's mad. Glad I told my boss today so if I need any time off he will understand. Hopefully tomorrow will be easier as i don;t have to go out of the office.
