  • Thats what happened when I had DS2 2 years ago but as they now do the Nuchal Fold Scan the blood test is now done on the same day for a more accurate result. I will be 12+4 when I have my scan and was planning on my pregnancy no longer being a secret after that but was wondering whether I should wait for all the results first. Although if i have to wait too long I am not sure I can keep the pretence up.

. Don't those kind of flights have beds on them ?
Only if you go 1st class, I wish:p But there are beds for the stewards if one did take pity on me I think you have to climb into them as they are normlly in the tail so might ot be viable anyway,

I know the decsiosn will be mine ultimtely, I will do some research on how it might effect bubs and make my decision from there

just logged on and cant believe there have been posts re flying :D

funny thing is i am 16+1 and i might be flying back to Oz in the next week or so.

it is short notice as i wasnt expecting to go. my mum is having an op and i would like to see her and i really could do with a break. things are getting on top of me a bit work wise etc so it might be a good idea to go back home for a few weeks. it was hubby's suggestion, but it's a lot of money at short notice. thinking of only mentioning it to my dad and surprise my mum.

i have the support socks as have worn them before and they are great.

i am seeing my MW on tuesday for bub's heartbeat so i might speak to her about it.

They recommend you don't fly in the first trimester - something about atmospheric radiation... but honestly that wouldn't be worrying me... It's the bloodclotting and so on that would get to me...
It's everyones personal choice at the end of the day - I just know Bean is SO precious to me that I would forever hate myself should anything happen to Bean... I just can't bring myself to take that risk...

I think you should tell your OH but wait a bit longer before you tell work :) I had to tell them because of ending up in hospital (read further up the thread lol) and being signed off work for a while... *sigh* Thankfully they were really excited for me in promptly told me off for checking my mails from my hospital bed :rotfl: oh and if they catch me answering emails on my blackberry again when I'm supposed to be resting they will confiscate it till I return LOL
All the doctor will likely do is update the system and tell you to book an appointment with your midwife and also contact the local scan unit to set up your 12 week scan appointment. Most don't "check" you're pregnant as home testing kits are as accurate as any other tests :)

  • Morning, im feeling dreadful this morning it all started yesterday i can hardly walk without getting pain in my legs and feel as if i am in need of a zimmer frame or such like to get me through the next 4 weeks. On top of that i can only just fit behind the wheel of my car and i cant put the seat back any further and the steering wheel is on the highest setting it can be. im having a c section on 28th October so i wont be able to drive for 6 weeks after :-( so im thinking if i have to stop driving now its going to be 10 weeks before i get any independence again.

Anyway enough of my moaning, hope everyone else is feeling good this morning

  • Why won't you be able to drive for 6 weeks after your section ? It's a myth that you can't drive for 6 weeks and that you won't be insured if you drive before that . Most insurance companies say as long as you feel ok in yourself you are ok to drive again . I drove myself home from hospital on day 5 after a section with my eldest (8 1/2) . I had to , I was a single mum and if I needed to go anywhere I had to drive .
Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

Don't mean to dispute BUT my doctor told me under NO circumstances was I to drive or lift objects such as tins off a shelf (!) for six weeks (and I felt absolutely fine in myself) and I phoned my Car insurance company and they said that I wasn't covered in the event of any accident because of my doctor's advice.
