lol skint - my date is the 16th but scan lady said she thinks i'm a day or two earlier than that so we might have the same due date!!! We couldn't hear the heartbeat yesterday but we could both see it on the screen :)
well once she pointed it out anyway!

  • Any thoughts on coccyx pain? I have had a dull ache for a while now and it is getting worse, particularly when I spend a lot of time sat down at work. The girls here are trying to convince me that I should be moving to BIG knickers but I just can't bring myself to do it...I should probably invest in some maternity thongs though I suppose. The pain is not unbearable, just uncomfortable really, although it has got worse.

MFD, I have been getting this to for few weeks now, to me it feels a bit like i've fallen on my coccyx or banged it, I put it down to the weight/strain of the baby but am def going to mention it to midwife next time I go (which is still 2 weeks away, but i hate calling the doctors as they make me feel i'm being paranoid!).
I also sit down all day at work and I work 12 hour shifts but I find getting up and going for a good walk every couple of hours really helps. (and is an excuse to get away from my pc, lol!:rotfl::rotfl:)

You SHOULD get up and walk every hour for 5 mins anyway... and that's if you're NOT pregnant ;)

Oh I didn't know that, but I will remember to quote it at work, lol!
To be honest work have be great, they got me a new chair and footrest and since I have been suffering with backpain they are arranging for someone from occ health to come and set my desk up for me this week so I am more comfortable. :T

Shopaholic - firstly I am sorry because I have no idea how far along you are in relation to me :o but I am 17+4 today.

I broke down today and called my midwife...the pain was getting really bad again and I had to stand up halfway through a meeting because I couldn't stand it anymore. Made me feel like I was playing the pregnancy card (just me and 12 men in this meeting!!) which is not me at all.

Bascially the midwife said that it is unlikely to be pregnancy related (as in a pregnancy complication) but that all of the bones and stuff down there are softening up so it could be caused by the pregnancy IYSWIM. MW suggested taking paracetamol if the pain gets too bad (but you don't want to keep doing that do you) and getting a gym ball to sit on to improve my posture. Apparently Tesco direct are doing gym balls for about £10 so I am going to give it a try. Finally MW said if it carries on then I should go and see the doctor.

MW was lovely, despite my reservations. Not too sure about sitting on a gym ball at work! But if it relieves the pain then I may look into one of those kneeling chairs or something...

  • Skinty - I am pretty sure that they can't hear the heartbeat until around 16 weeks anyway (some say 12 weeks to hear it but my MW said you can't always find it so early. Also, as I understand it you can change your mind about the hospital you want to go to pretty much at any time during your pregnancy so I suggest keeping an open mind for a while and perhaps voicing your concerns with the MW if you are worried.

r.mac - not sure which I admire more...your resolve not to buy bottles before you try BF or your trust in your hubby to buy the right thing :rotfl:

I have a little confession to make too...I bought a foetal doppler yesterday which arrived today. Since I had that fall last week I have been worried and I couldn't help myself (a payday treat!). I know it is not very MSE because I will be feeling baby move everyday soon enough but I have loads of friends with whom it can find a home when I have finished with it. Took me absolutely ages to find baby's heartbeat (it's much lower than I thought it would be!!) but when I did I called hubby and as soon as he answered he heard it!! I hadn't even told him I had ordered it!

    Hope everyone is well!

Gym balls are £3 instore at Tesco at the moment :j in those yellow and black boxes they have on the end of aisles (thanks for reminding me I ment to tell you all after I'd seen them the other day!)
I found the gym ball very comfy for watching tv at home when I got big

Shopaholic: your desk set up should be reviewed by someone trained in erganomics every 6 month or so regardless of pregnancy but most companies don't do this
