Dogs had a dog sofa at the old house. Occasionally snuck on the non-dog sofas, but being second-hand and wipeable I wasn't too bothered.

New house is smaller and a second sofa would result in dogs standing on it to look/bark out of the window so we haven't bothered, and they're not allowed on the new sofa (not with what we paid for it!). A long cardboard box (M&S flower delivery box, perfect size!) is enough of a deterrent and they happily settle on their beds, don't think they miss their sofa too much!0 -

Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0 -
I let mine on the sofa and on the bed for a short time each morning just after my wife and I have woken up. I do worry about hygiene though because people don't pick up after their dogs in my street and she sometimes steps in other dog's poo. I wipe her paws after each walk with wet wipes but I don't think they have sanitiser on them.0

But your dog will walk all over the house and tread any germs on her paws all over the place. You'll then walk over them, you might put your feet up on the footstool or coffee table, you'll touch your shoes and socks with your hands, you might touch the floor to pick up something you dropped, etc.
Life's too short to worry about every last possible germ IMO. We grew up with dogs, we ran around on a dirty farm getting covered in mud, cow pats, etc. and we were pretty healthy kids, who all grew into pretty healthy adults!0 -

I have two leather sofas both with throws on. I sit in one corner of the 3 seater, the very long haired blue & white dog and occasionally one of the rather furry white cats will lay on it too. I keep telling them the two-seater is just as comfortable but they never listen! The mogs aren't allowed in the bedrooms (can't stand trying to get rid of the fine hair they leave everywhere) but muttley sleeps with me on a king sized bed, I'm curled up in one top corner, he starts the night next to me but spends most of it curled up on the far, diagonal corner. There's room for more....:D
I have a sign in my hall which reads' This house is for the comfort of our animals. Visitors must take second place. If you love animals you will understand. If not what are you doing here?' I also warn visitors not to wear black when they're due to call. If they don't like it, tough

My two dogs would disown me if I didn't let them on the settees! I must admit it was easier when we had leather sofas but now we've got fabric, I seem to spend half my life hoovering and cleaning them. Will get another leather one eventually.
If visitors don't want to get dog hairs on their clothes, then don't sit on the sofas, easy! It's the dog's house, not theirs!
 Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies
