As much as I think all of your doggies are lovely, some of the pictures on this thread are making me cringe. :D

    I've been Money Tipped!
All the dogs I have had over the years have been allowed on the settees. When we had fabric settees I used to put throws on them although a couple of our dogs would push the throw aside or on the floor! Luckily the breed we have always had does not moult.

Now we have black leather settees and I clean them off (although not really as often as I should!). If I am expecting guests I always clean them off.

We have a 3 seater and a 2 seater and myself and OH sit together on the 3 seater. Our last boy always laid on the 2 seater and, being pretty big, took up the whole thing.

Our puppy lays on the 2 seater but will often come and lay between us on the 3 with his head on my lap.

To me and OH it's the cats' and dog's house as well as ours. We do have some rules - none of them are allowed in our bedroom nor in the kitchen.

I agree with a previous poster who said about skirting boards and the lower half of walls. I have a through room downstairs and the living room part doesn't have much skirting on lower wall on show because of the way the furniture is arranged but the dining end does. It does bother me a bit and I do try to wash them down as often as possible but I'd rather have a dog than clean skirting boards!

Dogs on settees? I don't even let mine in the house!

Why not? If they are part of the family why do you exclude them from the house?

Hahaha does a good licking count as cleaning its own bum?

Bet my dogs' bums are the cleanest in town, the amount of licking they get:)

I have two dogs, one is 14 other is 8. they were on sofa up until a week ago. Was getting fed up with them using sofa to peer out of window and leave dog snot on the glass lol, also they were scratching the brown leather when getting up and down.

I got them beds and they seem to love them. One in his now, other dog is having a stretched out sleep on the floor instead. They seem to have gone back to being dogs rather than equals lol. I do go on the floor to give kisses and cuddles though. Plus I get to stretch out now too.

We don't allow the dog on furniture, in the bedrooms or in the dining room. On our third rescued GSD now, and they rapidly learn the rules.

My dog is allowed on the sofa.
  • I let my dogs come up with permission. Seemed to keep everybody happy that way; I thought I was in charge, the dog in question thought it was great and the cats knew that they were actually the leaders.

Which I why I have leather sofas; a damp cloth gets all hairs off.
