I don't have a dog but was listening to a radio program earlier in the week where someone said they bought a white leather sofa just for a great dane to sleep on (£1400 no less) not very moneysaving was it!

Big dogs need big beds! Especially as they get older, dog beds from pet shops are not good for their joints.

If I had a giant breed, I'd probably buy it its own orthopaedic mattress!

I let him up, I am home alone most nights as partner is working so I like to have my pup next to me.

White leather arghhh but it cleans easy I do it every 2nd day with wipes and every few weeks with proper soap, sponge and a bucket of warm water.

I've owned 3 Great Danes. The last one had a massive beanbag which she loved until she came charging in from a 'wall of death' 5 minutes, leapt on the beanbag and it exploded. Cue 'snow' everywhere. Her favourite bed though was an old duvet - because it had been my daughters who was 'her' human. She would however lie on the laminate quite happily when it was warm - never had any problem with her joints and she lived to the ripe old age of 11.

Oh my God! Your black dog is the spitting image of my Jack, right down to the white bit on the chest!

Mine are both allowed on the sofa. It's their home too.:)

Our lurcher Rax curls up on my knee when I'm watching TV. We also have leather armchairs that just need a wipe down with a damp cloth every week or so. In the winter the OH and I usually wake up with the two cats on the bed and Rax under the duvet between our feet

Of course you let your dog on the sofa, where else would a dog go to read a book :D

We have a sweet little Cavalier and half the fun is cuddling up with her on the sofa.
