I take it I need to put the CAB in the root dir of storage card and use file manager to run it?

You don't need to, Its just a matter of being tidy. Most cabs delete themselves as part of the installation but for ones that don't you don't want to leave cabs all over the place taking up room.

I'm sure it goes without saying - but just incase, You don't unpack the cab to your storage card, you place the cab file on the card and run from there using your phones file manager.

One thing I always do with any smartphone I have had is assign a file manager to a speed dial key. it makes it so much easier if you are installing lots of software or just moving files around.

The built in file manager is great but the one you have downloaded is much better and will allow you to move\delete\copy lots of files at once

    Busy downloading games from

    http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=218112&page=1

You'll need to register unless you're a firefox user and have bugmenot installed.

I cant get any of them to run?

Is there something else that i need to install first?

    What am I doing wrong?

    What errors are you getting?

If I try to open file on PC first I'm getting several different Winrar error messges such as 'No file to extract' or 'Corrupt file'

I am trying lots of different downloads but all the same results.

    Winrar doesn't like 'em!!

    try post #15.

D/L it OK but click on it and I get this.

    ! C:\Documents and Settings\Terry\My Documents\Monet\Invasion_Smartphone_SPV_Impreza54.rar: Unknown method in Invasion_Smartphone_SPV_Impreza54.exe

    ! C:\Documents and Settings\Terry\My Documents\Monet\Invasion_Smartphone_SPV_Impreza54.rar: No files to extract

    ! Cannot execute "C:\DOCUME~1\Terry\LOCALS~1\Temp\R!!!!!X0g.s00\Invasion_Smartphone_SPV_Impreza54.exe"

If I copy it to storage card and run it using 'File manager' (Which I'm sure is the correct procedure, now -- Is it?) I'm told that it's not a valid windows CE application.

Copy& Pasting the file from post #14 to storage root dir., I get this on PC screen

    Quote:
    ! C:\Documents and Settings\Terry\My Documents\Monet\Invasion.rar: Unknown method in Invasion.exe

    ! C:\Documents and Settings\Terry\My Documents\Monet\Invasion.rar: No files to extract

I downloaded the file, extracted it to the desktop - no problem

I then clicked on it and it said it wasn't a valid win32 app so i copied it to the root of my memory card and using file manager clicked on it.

I got the usual warning about running it and agreed and it loaded perfectly.

its not a QVGA game so it only fills a small part of the screen which means it was a pain to exit it.

If you are getting an error when you run it it could be your are not fully unlocked

    Thanks for the reply alan.

    Aha I did wonder that.

Should I go through the whole proc and start from fresh or should I do a re-set first?

Just for your info though, I did get this to work and it's pretty impressive.

it gives you VISTA on the Lobby with an ever changing coloured window.

Demo only but worth having a look.

Always easier to start with a reset first and then work on to trying to unlock again.

Thanks for the link - I'll have a look at that later

Go to "Settings" and select "Connections".
From that menu select "SMS Service". This should be set to "Circuit-switched preferred".
Return to the "Connections" menu and select "GPRS" then "Virgin GPRS". The settings for this, from top to bottom, should be -
    Connects to: The Internet
    Access point: goto.virginmobile.uk
    User name: user
    Password: <blank>
    Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
    Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
    IP Address: <blank>

The VM website erroneously gives an IP address to use so there is a good chance that the factory reset also inserts it.

Thanks. I spent half an hour on phone to a techie at Virgin mobile this morning. he managed to get a text sent from his Virgin phone to mine. But I was still not getting any texts from my old phone (tesco-mobile) or hubbys (vodaphone). Nor had I received any from the Virgin techie who supposedly sent me some last Friday. The guy could not understand how/why the phone appeared to be filtering texts. Anyhow, I said I would text all my contacts to ask them to text me back, and to let me know what network they used, to see if i could work out which were not working.
Sent out 10 texts to a select few. Got immediate responses from a Virgin and 2 orange users. Then an hour after that it was like a plug had been pulled! I got replies from all remaining 7 contacts plus half a dozen texts from upto 3 days ago. Including the ones from Virgin. I reckon they were held in a text traffic jam somewhere!!!

Anyhow, all seems to work now. Blockage sorted. Receiving texts properly. And Tv working.

may actually get to use the damn Lobby this week now :-)

Thanks for all who gave advice over the last week or so.
