What happened to be nice to new posters?! I get that you are all used to seeing negative comments about WBAC, but that doesn't make my review any less valid. I am not a spammer and am quite insulted that someone has reported my review just because it was positive.

They have treated you "nice" so far.
It`s fairly obvious that you haven`t read the whole thread and jumped in with a "suspect" review of WBAC.

Read my post # 127 for the balance that you say is missing.

'2010' with all due respect that is where you are wrong. I did read the whole thread and that is why I nearly didn't give WBAC a chance. As I've already said I am happy to forward you proof that I sold my car to them and that my review is regarding a genuine transaction; I'm not sure what else I can do to prove this to you. The whole premise of the forum is for free speech, so I really feel that despite our differing opinions you need to allow me to post a review of my experience. Your argument that I must be a liar because my first post is a positive one is unjust and incredibly unfair. I have contacted the Forum Team because I am so unhappy about how my posts are being treated. I have always been an advocate of this website and recently bought my broadband package with TalkTalk because of the review and deal that MSE had negotiated, but you are seriously making me question what this Forum is about. Would it help if I told you all the things that I have complained about in my lifetime? I'm definitely a glass half full person usually, so I must have had good service for me to even bother logging on.

    FairyM,

If you read my post #127, I actually said that in my experience, WBAC were no worse than the main Ford dealers I encountered.
My post, was in fact, one of the few on this thread not to slag them off.

So for you to say you are being called a liar (I never said you were) because you said something positive about WBAC, doesn`t stack up.

In my post I was positive about them but not to the extreme you were.
The other difference was that I hadn`t just joined the forum and immediately lavished praise on a company which 90% of the posters thought were and still think are crap.

    Suspicious or what?

Fair enough '2010' and I understand why you are all suspicious, but it is very frustrating when I know I'm genuine. I know you didn't call me a liar (my bad choice of words) but that is how the responses have made me feel.
I don't want to get into an argument about it, but you have ended your post with an inflammatory comment 'suspicious or what' and again you are making it sound like people who sign up and write a negative comment as their first post are the ones to be trusted and not the other way around.
Anyway (!) I hope you are all having a nice day in the rain and I have forwarded proof of my car sale to WBAC to the Forum Team member who emailed me back, so hopefully this will all be confirmed soon!
I can't believe my intention to be nice has turned into such a drama!
No one's perfect (least of all me)!

    Hi FairyM,

I'm not doubting your sincerity - mainly because there's not a snowballs hope in hell that I'll be selling any of my cars through a website so it really doesn't matter to me either way.

That said, your sudden appearance doing nothing but saying how good they were to you is a little (shall we say) "unusual", as is your continued defence. Certainly, in my experience, a genuine user who posts somewhere and gets such a suspicious reception is far more likely to decide that the particular forum isn't worth bothering with than to go to greater lengths, like emailing info to the admin, in order to "prove" themselves.

Bear in mind that none of the "proof" you offer can ever actually prove you're not connected to them.

Something like "FairyM" is exactly the sort of username some bloke in the car trade is likely to use if he wants to point out that his usernale isn't one that blokes in the car trade would use!

Details of a "genuine sale" mean absolutely nothing if you're connected with the business concerned. I buy, repair and sell clocks and watches. If I want paperwork to show I've sold one to myself then it's really no problem. I sell it to myself then sell it back to myself at the same price. takes 2 minutes and doesn't even mess up my accounts because no profit involved!

Adding claims like "always been an advocate of this website" don't help either because that makes it seem even more "unusual" that you've been coming here all this time, found and benefited from useful advice, yet the first time you decide to sign up and comment is in spirited defence of a company that lots of people (including the OFT) have had problems with.

Not quite sure how you go about overcoming those "unusual" bits in the eyes of a generally quite cynical audience but sincere good luck in trying :)

Thanks for your response Joe, but you are another poster who seems intent on putting out my candle! I'm just really disappointed, this website has been useful to me (there was no reason for me to log on when I could view all the advice and posts without doing that) and then I'm met with such contempt when I register and post because it's positive.
At the end of the day whatever you think of my posts is not going to change my life, but it makes this forum look like it is really just about people whinging and not really very helpful at all. I haven't gone away because I have the right to my opinion and am not about to admit defeat!
For me this isn't really about how my comments on WBAC are interpreted anymore, it's about sheer frustration at the attitude they were met with. Anyone with any sense will take what you write with a pinch of salt, as much as they might be sceptic of me.
    Best wishes,
    Marian

For a laugh have a look at their review centre reviews, amazing amount of 5 star reviews from their staff. Even with them blitzing reviewcentre with 5 star reviews recently they still only achieve 3.5.

I'm tempted to report them under the Consumers Protection from Unfair Trading Practices for a check on the IP addresses.

Marian, that was entirely NOT my intention. I was simply trying to explain why you got such a cynical reaction from others - as I said, it matters neither way to me because I won't be using WBAC in any case (not much interest in 1970s Dafs or 1960s Triumphs through that sort of site).

Please try to stop reacting in such apparently defensive way. Someone unconnected with the company really shouldn't mind if others don't want to take their recommendation on face value because, ultimately, it's no loss to you whether they do or not.

Too much defence could be seen as an interested party trying to either push the point or play for sympathy with "look how mean all the people who've criticised the company are". I am NOT saying that's what I think, but my cynicism is held in check a bit better than many on here ;)

Thanks again Joe, I know I'm only making matters worse but being defensive, but that's just my personality when I'm challenged - as I said I'm not perfect either! :rotfl:
I'm all for healthy scepticism, so I hope people reading this bear in mind that they don't know what anyone's motivations are - good or bad!
  • I have had a quote from WBAC for my Fiat Bravo 08 plate £3750, I have booked an appointment at Lakeside Essex on Sunday will let you know how I get on. If deal is not acceptable I will be putting car on Auto Trader.
