YM, I think you're are right to go for the holiday too. We go to France in the summer and whilst my father in law has given us some of the money we will need to pay for everyday expenses. I wasn't sure about this either but Payplan have said it is ok from their point of view. We would probably spend a bit on days out if we stayed at home so the expense will be more in France but not seriously more. Some things are cheaper there anyway. So I have felt like you about it but have decided it would be more beneficial all round to go on holiday.

A holiday also boosts you up so that you are stronger psychologically which is important for people in every walk of life. I thought you were a woman by the way. Hope I haven't caused any offence previously:))

  • O my what a life, my cars gearbox went last week - £1k to fix won't be ready till end of the week at the earliest, but thats not the least of it, I borrowed OH car then wrote it off at the weekend, noone hurt just my pride and my purse, now we are having to catch the bus, I could hire a car but thought I rely on the car too much and thought I need to be taught a valuable lesson.

My new motto NEVER say life can't get any worse because it does!! and there is always someone worse off than you so don't dwell on it!!!!

Hope everyone else is OK sorry for my rant - will read back and catch up on everyone else now!!!

iadmm - what a nightmare for oyu at the mo! Hope the ins comes through quickly on your OH's car and that your car is fixed soon.

YM - don't worry about it - like you say - you're now going to find that money, not debt like you may have done in the past and given the family a really exciting hol to look forward to! May I suggest that you join the next Olympic challenge and try to raise extra money that way? Also I am assuming you are a member of Pigsback? You can save all the vouchers for Boots etc and then get sun cream, holiday items from there etc. You could also start to save for spending money too - be over generous with the amounts so you don't end up out of pocket. Perhaps have an aim for 6 months time that you'd like to have saved up to pay off the holiday amount? The challenge might make it even faster :)

Just some suggestions, but I have raised a lot that I would have previously wasted, and this was a direct result of doing the olympicchallenge!

I hope everyone is having a good day - I've had no post at all for three days now and it's beginning to annoy me!! I will have to get writing to people so I get cards (not bills!!) through. I am waiting for a few statements through as well. I have no idea of the state of my finances, which is very odd as before DMP I knew exactly how much debt I was in down to the penny! Now I can't access that info and don't know what interest and charges I'm still getting - grrrrr.

Hugs to all having a bad day

    Hi everyone

Sea 78:- I also haven't had any post for days and its really annoying. This means I am going to have to ring Barclaycard and Capital One to see if they have accepted my payments. Don't really want to but NEED to know.

YM:- dlb sums up exactly what I was going to say. Glad you feel better about that and have a good sleep.

IADMM:- Sorry to hear about your car probs. Hope it all gets sorted out soon.

I will go and ring Barclaycard and Capital One and let you know the outcome.

    hi all,
YM......agree with the others re your hols.just cos we are on a dmp doesnt mean we have to wear sackcloth and ashes and berate ourselves everytime we get a bit of extra money and it doesnt go to the dmp.i have 26 years on my dmp left and i always think that if i had gone bankrupt it would all be over in about 3 - 6 years but im going to plod on with the dmp while i can.then if things improve ill review the situation(sound like fagin in oliver, dont i?lol)
would love a hol abroad but passports have run out and dane kennel costs are around £150 for 2 weeks so thats about £400 before we even start, and OH wont go on hols in this country cos of weather.so will have to wait for £2000 to magically grow on the tree in the back garden.so YM best wishes.xx

IADMM....sorry about the cars.somedays you are the fly and somedays you are the windscreen.so after this i reckon you are due abit of luck.

no post today again but am waiting for my mortgage refund from when we changed from bir.midshires to yorkshire.foned on 2nd,was told reply by 10 working days.foned today, lost request(convenient!!)and are dealing with it .blah ......asked for kind of deffo date cos interst will be claimed(had to return the favour as they did it to me) so she said i would get a reply by end of week.IF(!!)they owe me any dosh they send me an acceptance form then a cheque.so will keep everything crossed.
will finish my usual short post(LOL) and catch you all ron.hope all is well with everyone.take care.regards,xx

    Hi Everyone :D

Just a quick post today as I'm on my lunch hour.
AA is good in teecee world at the moment no nasty calls or letters (long may it continue).

YM - I totally agree with everyone else! Stop beating yourself up, you have no need to feel guilty!
The debts are being dealt with and you should be very proud of yourself for that.;) Just because you are on a DMP doesn't mean you are not allowed to have a life!!

Children grow so quickly make the most of the time you have with them and give them some lovely memories of their time in Florida. You are not getting into more debt for this holiday, and you will work even harder now it is booked to make extra money. So go, have a fantastic time, and it will be something that will keep you going when times get rough. We all deserve a life!!!!

    Take Care xx

YM How dare you go on holiday when you are on a DMP! You should be wearing sackcloth and ashes and berate yourself every time you have some extra cash! (ONLY JOKING).
I totally agree with what everyone has said, you should'nt feel guilty, I think we do that enough. The children will love it, they grow so fast.
