i think thats why i dont tell peeps near me about this site cos im sure they will guess its me by my user name ,then they can look up my posts and know how much debt im in, then ill be totally embarrassed cos some peeps i know would take great satisfaction in my misery. (well they take great satisfaction in anyones misery, unless its their own!!!im sure you all know peeps like that)anyway, its none of their business and ill tell whoever i want to tell but in a small knit community, word soon gets round.
People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with :)

    Hi again.
told a friend of mine about the DMP but not how much debt I am actuallyin and it turns out she is in debt too and has secured a loan against her house. Just goes to show doesn't it?

Felt better for telling her as I know she won't judge as she knows the reasons for my overspending. I think I would be lost without this board somedays! Am just concerened though about people turning up at my door as my housemate does not know anything about the situation (he is in debt too but does not know how much I am in).

    Hi everyone.

Sorry i feel really bad that i only seem to come on here when i have a problem!!!! I just dont seem to have 5 mins at the moment with new babe etc etc. Ive also been doing a few cleaning jobs to keep us going.

Anyway we had a letter from egg awhile ago saying that they have passed our debt onto dlc (even so the lady at egg said that the dmp had been accepted) so told cccs and they have now started to pay dlc. then i get another letter from them saying that they have contacted the land registry and may contact a solicitor. so i called cccs and they said dont worry it's just threats and only be worried if you get a letter from the courts. so stupid me i couldnt leave it at that and decided to call dlc and tell them that they should be getting the money from cccs. they said that egg cant handle all the dmp's so they sell some of them on (so lucky me) and that they are going to probably take me to court and secure the loan against our house and take what we have.

I have now completey terrified myself i wish i had'nt called them. I told the guy that the £15k we owe them is a small amount to the £100 we owe to everyone else.

do you think i have reason to be scared ?????

sorry if typing is rubbish typing with one hand and baby in other

I've just made my 2nd payment on my DMP to CCCS, previous to that I missed a couple of payments/underpaid a couple - nobody has even threatened to turn up at my door so far ;)

I think usually if you keep them informed and they know you are trying to pay (as opposed to willfully avoiding paying and ignoring them) and they are having contact with CCCS then you will be ok with regard to people turning up at the door.

Could be wrong. But personally I haven't had anything other than phone calls, letters and a default so far... and I owe over 7k on each of my credit cards and loan.

Phone calls have all stopped now that CCCS have contacted them, letters have near enough stopped too. Even the junk mail offering consolidation loans seems to have stopped :rotfl: :T

  • Have 2 creditors (bank with loan and od, and another loan) but well over 30k owed. :-( and CCCS will be getting in touch with them this week.

Had plenty of letters and phone calls but no default (yet)...defo agree about keeping them informed, making goodwill payments and making it clear you are trying to pay. The creditors seem more helpful then. So far they only got scary when I was going for the 'ignore and they will go away' approach.

Have sorted budget so just over £300 available for my monthly payment to CCCS.
Any one got any info or thoughts on what makes them accept or not accept an offer? what makes them sell the debt to a DCA etc

I've got no idea to be honest. The bank I'd had my current account and CC with for over 10 years agreed immediately but I didn't miss any payments at all with them either, went straight onto the DMP. They accepted and dropped interest from 18% to 6.7% APR (not as good as 0% but I'm happy with that as any loan offered to me would have been more with my credit rating -or lack of). :o

The one who was most annoying with phone calls for me (GE Money Mastercard - highest APR too) and who I'd missed the most payments to accepted and stopped interest for a temporary period but nothing to say how long that is . Owe them the same as one above.

The third CC I owe more to and they issued a default for me. No acknowledgment of any contact with CCCS, no letter acknowledging anything other than that I am behind in payments. So have yet to see what happens after the default.

I have a loan with the same bank as the third CC and have heard absolutely nothing from them. No phone call about missed payments, no letters, no defaults. No acknowledgment about my requested name change (just before the DMP in case they wouldn't let CCCS deal as it was in my maiden name) Almost as if the loan doesn't exist!! Had PPI on it though so not sure if that means they wait a bit before action???

Seems weird to me that with the same bank they have immediately issued a default on the CC but nothing at all on the loan
