Morning All
Had another letter from Mercers saying pay the arrears and ring us urgently, they are dealing with my other debt too, so I have 2 defaults.
Anyway I rang ndl and they said don't contact them just write another letter with budget sheet and stick to my guns and keep paying my reduced payment to them. They also said give it 2 months and if they haven't accepted write them a letter and asking them to take me to court. I have a sample letter here. Will see how it goes.
Gemmzie Try not to worry they can't have what you haven't got.
Ym Glad everything is ok!
Eripmav I have the same problem with cccs they can't help because I am on benefits and I am a single parent due to ill health and I don't enough money left over.
Amani You are right you have to have £100.00 over for them to help. I was told this too!
Hope everyone has a good day with the Mr postie.
The weather is lovely here today.
Have a good day all

eripmav can you and your missus shuffel your payments around a bit and find the other £41? or does your OH not know of your debt? Do you feel confident enough too do your own DMP? There is some on this thread doing there own DMP, Valley's girl is one of them.

Hi quick rant before I go to the seaside shortly
Have been getting a million calls from hsbc but have not answered them (they were calling cos my od is over limit by £7).
Anyway got a letter today re personal loan not being paid last month so I rang them and said I have sent letters to hsbc informing you of DMP with CCCS and gave my ref number again. The man said so who are they then?!! He thought it was a debt management company so I told him briefly about them. Then I said I do not wish to be contacted by telephone and couuld you put all correspondence in writing in the future.he said OK and that normal procedures will apply due to non payment of loan. What are 'normal procedures'? Am I right to be concerened? Sent my forms off to CCCS so told hsbc they will be hearing from them shortly.
On another note...does anyone know about reclaiming ppi on this loan? It would probably not be a good idea woul it,seeing as I am on a DMP?
My emotion today:

Ish;)
With regards to the missus, we're not married so the debt is mine and only mine. I wouldn't expect her to fork out for my mistakes:) Money's tight on both sides in truth, so to find the extra £41 would be very hard.
I'd try doing a DMP but getting companies like Barclays (or Mercers) to listen is a different matter. They basically said to me that I have to go through a third party such as PP or CCCS.
Valley's Girl: It's disheartening isn't it? You want to pay off your debt but without any help it's bloody difficult to do so. I could feasibly go bankrupt (by borrowing the funds to do so, not that I know how much it costs!) but I think for me personally, that it's right to pay off what I've borrowed.Bankrupt 28/07/08!0 -
Hi all.
Not a lot to report today regarding post or DMP. Had a bit of a run in today with my local water company. Sent me a letter saying that since my DD had been cancelled i needed to pay the balance in one hit. Funny really when they were the ones who cancelled the damn thing. Have been trying to set this up since March.
Anyway 3 hours later got it all sorted.Funny really as this forum has given me the courage and confidence to tackle even the smallest problem now.
Hope you are all well and speak soon

Evening it is quiet here this evening hope everyone is out enjoying the lovely weather.
Eripmav don't worry about Mercers I have 2 defaults with them. Although 5 of my creditors have agreed out of seven.
Just send your budget sheet and a letter showing what you can afford and a token payment you might be suprised that most of them will agree to your reduced payments. I really wouldn't worry about Mercers I rang them up and said if I could pay I would, the lady told me they only accept reduced payments if a 3rd party is involved, which is maybe the way they operate.
Mercers is barclays internal dca maybe they are a bit more difficult to deal with, you could contact http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/ they will be able to advise you they are great and they will send you a fact sheet will all the template letters in the pack and you can also download them from their web site.
Anyway good luck let us know how you get on and most importantly try not to worry.
Take care

hi all,
sorry to all who are up against it with the dmps.cant understand what criteria cccs use cos i only have £69 spare to pay 13 creditors and cccs accepted me straight away and had 3 month review on fri and all stayed same.when i did my own dmp in 1997 i foned national debtline.they sent me a wonderful a4 booklet out with all the info i needed and all the template letters to send, and tbh, all my creditors realised my difficulties and accepted the offers,(albeit after dogged persistance!)although i got a ccj from 1.have been on a lloyds/tsb dmp since 1997 and am on same one still with cccs(i know,..will never learn to pay the old debt off before getting new debt!!!) so i highly recommend trying your own dmp with help from national debtline if no success with payplan/cccs.wouldnt you think they would want to help you with the debt instead of making it harder????
the only bad thing about doing your own dmp is taking loads of diff slips to bank at diff times of month and not being late with any of them...and the 0870 nos you have to fone for additional slips when you run out cos the last thing you want to do is set up a dd incase they request more than your offered payment(which some sneaky ones do!!)
eriprav...forgive me for this but in your case i would seriously talk to your OH about bankruptcy for you.wont affect her at all and with your income you are very brave attempting a dmp.please dont take my advice the wrong way as i feel the same as you about paying the debt cos you spent it....but you have learnt your lesson and after b/k 6 years down the line you will get your life back on track.even up to last year i tended to think of b/r as a cowards way out and wouldnt entertain the idea as i was stuck in the self blame culture...but am afraid the older i get, i realise lifes too short to let money rule my life and ruin my life.cant go b/r cos have half a house, iykwim, and a DS but if i was renting with no dependents or low income and no assets then would have done it myself.will take me 25 years to pay off my dmp and sometimes feel like im shovellig sand uphill!!!as i said....my views my own and apologies to all my mates on here who are reading this and thinking "shes gone bonkers" and am betraying some sort of secret code, cos im not ,honestly.i really admire you for sticking with it and hope you see both sides of the debt arguement that im trying to put across.good luck. xx
and if no one talks to me after this......
serves me right!!!
god, sorry for the short post!!!everyone take care.

Thanks ilovegreatdanes (beautiful dogs btw;)) and of course to you Valley'sGirl.
I don't understand bankruptcy at all. People have attempted to explain it to me but it's right over my head. Will I totally lose my bank account (even though I have no debt with my bank?
Am I able to start with an unofficial DMP (If the creditors agree to lower payments) and then when I've saved the £300 or whatever it costs, then go bankrupt? I really don't understand:/ I've tried reading into it via other informative sites, but I have the tendancy to read something but my brain goes into Homer mode and thinks blah blah blah...:)Bankrupt 28/07/08!0 -
eripmav...is a reaaly good thread on this site about b/r.think it costs £5oo ish:eek: but also go to https://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk and have really good stuff they can send you which explains all.its not the easy option peeps think it is though but its horses for courses and id seriously look into it fiwy.thread on this site is really good as it gives real experiences as well as answering all the questions...would put the ref but am cr*p with the comp literacy(took me 3 years to bring up the prog index on the dvd player :rotfl: ) best of luck. xxPeople bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with
