does it make a difference if you have used an account? My current account is overdrawn and has been for ages but not currently over the overdraft limit. This will be part of my DMP and I have a loan with the same bank.
I am only just getting a new current account so have had to keep using my old one for things like my mortgage and some emergency purchases.
Bowz...Keep your chin up!!!!!0 -
Afternoon again
Bowz they'll come round eventually. I have 2 GE accounts and they were a bit of a nightmare - phoning daily, writing daily but they accepted in the end.
Well I've just been to try to open a Basic Bank Account. I went to Ulster Bank (which is part of the Nat West group). I stressed that I just want a basic account and told them that I had problems. Of course they credit checked online and it was declined there and then. Any ideas of where I can go next that definitely doesn't do a credit check?0 -
Been a pretty good day so far.
Got £900 back from Barclays for reclaimed charges. This has allowed me to make a good size goodwill payment on my loan at Barclays today and reduce my overdraft. Alas had to also use for some home repair stuff that needed to be bought. I hate DIY!
Went to Halifax about opening new current account. Had been sent a letter saying they rejected my online application and to go and talk to someone in a branch. Got there for my appointment to be told the person was off ill, and there was noone else available. Thanks for letting me know!
Got home to find a letter and Welcome brochure from Cooperative Bank saying "subject to a few formalities we have approved your current account application in principle,,,if everything is in order we will arrange delivery of debit card..." etc.
Pleased about this as I assume they would have done credit checks and all that before sending this? Halifax just sent a rejection letter.
Now have a new account number to send to CCCs and they can finally contact my creditors.
Made another £50 goodwill payment to Argos loans. They had written to me saying they wanted 3 x monthly £50 payments which I think is to cover the period until the DMP is in place.
Looking forward to tonight. I help run a youth football club and it is the presentation evening tonight. As a team manager and commitee member it means lots of free drinks from grateful parents..altho do have to get up and do a speech and present some awards so need the Dutch courage!!!
Hope everyone is ok!0 -
Mark, how long ago did you apply for the Co-op Cashminder? I have just applied over the phone. They have referred it to the decisions department. Who said basic bank accounts were easy to get? :mad:0

Hi all. Just a wee update.
Paypal finally got back to me after constant to and throwing. Basically, the only option I have is to send letters to my creditors asking for lower payments done on a pro rata basis (which I already had done), due to my not working they're not able to give me a legally binding DMP.
Now, I resent out the letters along with two cheques for the monies they recommended, along with income and expenditure sheets. What happens if they say no to this? With it not being legally binding, they're not in a position whereby they have to do anything to help me.
If it all falls through, I suppose I'd have to beg and borrow the money to go bankrupt...not something I want to do:(Bankrupt 28/07/08!0 -

Hi
I applied on-line on Wednesday, and got the letter and Welcome brochure today.
Will be very annoyed if they send you this letter and stuff and then reject you0 -
Mark I would imagine if they are "welcoming" you that everything should be ok. That is a pretty fast response. Hope they welcome me and do it quickly.
Well done on your bank charge claim.
Eripmav I wish you every success. Don't let them grind you down.0 -
hi all
In answer to you question Mark, if you have received details from co-op thats what i got and about a few days later i got debit card and then the pin followed. I had the same wording as you have and thought i might not have been accepted for an account.
If you want you could give them a call and they will set you up for phone banking as well and also give you password for internet banking. I found the co-op really friendly when i called them.
The account i opened was co-op current account if this helps anyone else looking for a new account.
Feeling a little less stressed about ge money not accepting the dmp (its their loss) and i have to stick to dmp. Have a lot of creditors in total 15 with lloyds making up 5 of these, after reading the details about lloyds am not looking forward to their response but have to keep positive.
well have to go to work now so
bye all for now.
sun is out here!!!0 -
hi all
Just got my first rejection of the dmp from ge money - saying please pay in full balance etc and let cccs know about this rejection. I wouldnt mind but balance is about 1,800 so i dread to think what some of the other creditors will say with higher balances.
They are saying the reason is because i have recent purchased and used card i have one purchase in april and last used the card in december 06.
Don't fret too much. They sent me that letter too (owe them nearly 8k ). Then when CCCS paid the first payment a different department send me a letter saying they accept payments suggested by CCCS and will stop interest temporarily.
Two days later another department said they can't stop interest until they hear from CCCS
So not all the departments talk to each otherworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Newlywed, I preseume you have tried the tactic of asking a garage that you have some trust in or which you know has a good reputation to look out for a suitable car for you?
Yeah the local repairs garage has been taken over by our neighbour and he is keeping an eye out for me as he said he often gets offered stuff. But nothing yetworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
